Not a good start by England, Rehan and Duckett have both managed to get themselves out cheaply.

I know that I've not been following the ODI's recently but who's this Rehan and more importantly WTF has Bethall done to his hair. Did he lose the bet Huh

RE: England ODI & T20I Tour of Sri Lanka - Boomerangutangangbang - 27-01-2026 10:37

Rehan Ahmed the Leicestershire Leg Spinner. He still only 21 after being the youngest England debutant in all 3 formats. He's listed as a bowling allrounder, but his batting is maybe his strength currently. He did make 5 centuries in the Championship last season from the No.3 position, but he looks a bit out of his depth on a pitch that is taking spin. With Crawley injured, they should've gone with Tom Banton, but I think they are happy to give Ahmed extra gametime, England can maybe get away with him opening with a long batting line-up.

After the first couple of wickets the England batting has been characterised by exemplary strike rotation. Lots of finding gaps and giving fielders the run around. A nice platform for Brook to do his heavy hitting in the last seven or eight overs. Just how to build an ODI innings.

RE: England ODI & T20I Tour of Sri Lanka - Boomerangutangangbang - 27-01-2026 12:49

Two contrasting, but equally brilliant innings from the Yorkshire men. Root 111 off 108 balls with just 9 fours & a six, a masterclass in hitting the gaps, manipulating the field with faultless footwork. Brook 136 from 66 balls with 11 fours & 9 sixes, just destroyed the bowlers with power. placement & timing, some ridiculous shots. A a captain he should let his bating do the talking in future, complaining about the quality of the Sri Lanka pitches was a dumb move.
