I remember some N64 games costing £59.99 in Game a long time ago,too much then and £70 would be too much for any game now, unless the game had more then 8 hrs worth of gameplay and played perfectly ,but i dont think thats going to happen, even if the game companies had more money there'd still be churning out the same generic Madden ,Tiger Woods,Fifa games. Higher games prices will encourage more piracy.......which i dont mindWink but that would cause these companies to lose even more money.

Exactly, come on piracy!

I regularly pay around that much for the special editions of games (I have got Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition pre-ordered at £119.99, Batman: Arkham Asylum Collector's Edition at £59.99, Halo 3 ODST with controller at £59.99 and if any other big games like Splinter Cell: Conviction or Assassin's Creed 2 get the special edition treatment then I will buy them too) but that as the regular price of games is asking a bit much if you ask me, some modern games nowadays that have had millions spent on them like Modern Warfare 2 deserve it. But if they up the ante like that then stupid fucking shitty games like the Lego games or movie tie-ins like Shrek the 1324823 will think that they can be released at that price too and it is going to hurt the game industry.

Try paying £90 (NOT adjusted for inflation!) for Virtua Racer on Sega Megadrive on release day! Those were the bad old days and it took gaming a few years to recover from that. If it goes down the same route, it'll shoot itself in the foot again.Rolleyes

I think Gammers these days will only pay the top mark of £40 if its a game they really want but these days most gamers are the type to wait until the game has redueced a bit from 40 quid or people buy the games pre owened. No one will buy the games at £70 quid a pop it will just encourge more people into piracey plus for the price of two games at £70 each you could buy an xbox 360 for that never going to happen.

Anybody remember the Neo Geo?

Some of their games were 70-80 quid, and that was back in the early 90's. I think some may have even been as high as a 100.shocked
