A terrible thing to have happened at any time of the year and good news that there is still sufficient kindness to have replaced the material items stolen or damaged. I hope the little girl and her mum have begun to get over this dreadful event.

Interesting that you assume that the perpetrators of this crime are junkies... possible and perhaps even likely but probably best not rush to judgement. I think it is quite unlikely that they'd be members of this forum but if anybody wants to confess...justice can apparently be swiftly dealt out.
