Match Review

Leeds United 0 - 0 Newcastle United

A solid if not spectacular performance from the home team. The re-jigged midfield was a concern for me, but they proved to be combative, with Longstaff a standout against his former side. Much better against the ball, breaking up play & regaining possession.
Some promising attacks broke down with poor quality of the final ball, & when the delivery was better there was a failure to get on the end of them in threatening positions. It was late into added time before Pope had to make a save from Calvert-Lewin who again showed promise of what he could deliver once he improves his fitness.
Newcastle looked, more direct & dynamic in transition, yet still only troubled Perri to make 2 saves. After their impressive display against Liverpool, looking the better side with 10 men, today's opposition was slightly disappointing. Although missing a few key players I expected more.

Hopefully something in the shape of creative quality & finishing can be signed before the transfer window closes. 4 points before the International break is as good, if not better than could be expected, given the opposition.

^^ Something has to give in this fixture, Leeds haven't scored from open football in their first 3 games.

There you go.
Not even half time and it's game over. Charity FC going down with zero points. Wolves really are diabolically and despicably hopeless.

Most of that money completely wasted in the case of Wolves.
Absolutely on course to be the worst PL team in history. I have never seen such a calamitous cavalcade of catastrophic cack in all my years watching top flight football. Leeds I think will stay up.

Wolves will finish bottom on zero points and condemned to the biggest humiliation in the history of football.

It was a good result for Leeds, and I see have now found a decent goalkeeper.

We already had him, Darlow might keep his place even when our No.1 Perri is fit. We paid only 400K for Darlow, Perri around 15 million & 5 million for Meslier who we are struggling to get rid of.
You could put practically anyone from this forum between the sticks & they'd all outperform the Frenchman.

RE: Leeds United F.C.
A Tribute to Terry Yorath

Terry Yorath’s passing marks the loss of far more than a footballing great. It marks the loss of a man whose strength, humility, and quiet dignity shaped every team he played for, every dressing room he walked into, and every life he touched.
Born in Cardiff and forged in the golden era of Don Revie’s Leeds United, Terry became the kind of player supporters never forget — committed, fearless, and utterly dependable. He wore the white shirt nearly 200 times, helping deliver one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. For Wales, he was not just a captain but a symbol of pride, resilience, and national spirit, earning 59 caps and later guiding his country from the touchline with the same passion he showed on the pitch.
But beyond the medals, the matches, and the memories, Terry Yorath was something even rarer: a gentle, kind, and deeply grounded man. His family described him as quiet and gentle — a father whose love was steady, unwavering, and felt in every moment. His life carried both triumph and heartbreak, yet he met it all with courage and grace that inspired everyone around him.
To supporters, he was a warrior.
To Wales, an icon.
To Leeds, a legend.
To his family, simply Dad — and that was his proudest title of all.
His legacy lives on in the stories told in stadiums, in the respect of generations of players, and in the love of those who knew him best. And now, as his family said so beautifully, he is reunited with his son Daniel — a reunion filled with peace.
Rest in peace, Terry Yorath.
Thank you for the years of service, the memories, and the example you set.
There truly was only one Terry Yorath.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift; that’s why it’s called The Present.”
