RE: Wuhan Open
The Wuhan Open competition proper begins on 7th October, most of the qualifying round took place from 28-30 July at the Leicester Arena, Leicester. The remaining qualifiers, involving players such as Judd Trump, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ding Jinhui, Zhang Anda, Kyren Wilson and David Gilbert, take place in Wuhan on 6th October.
In the qualifiers, Sunni Akani beat Tom Ford 5-2, Neil Robertson beat Ken Doherty 5-0, Jak Jones beat Ross Muir 5-3.
This sequence of results means although Tom Ford will end the British Open ahead of Robertson in the rankings, he will start the Wuhan Open behind them, and they have a chance to extend their lead over him. John Higgins beat Ben Mertens 5-1, so if he doesn't get into the top 16 at the British Open he has the chance to do so at the expense of Ford.
Mark Selby was the biggest casualty in qualifying. He got a breaks of 130 and 135 to take a 4-1 lead over Long Zehuang but lost the last 4 frames. Maguire is also out after losing 5-4 to WSF Champion Ka Wai Cheung.
