Well to be fair Davis isn't complaining and has accepted his fate. I see Jimmy White on the other hand managed to stay on the tour, but only just as he's now ranked 61st.

Gotta say, I'm liking Neil Robertson at 9/1 right now. Mark Selby is half tempting at 12/1, but selby always bottles it at the Crucible. Maybe this will be his year. But I doubt it. Ding at 15/2 is decent. Ronnie's odds are way too short to bet on- his best odds are just 7/5.

Glad Ebdon didn't make it, he's even worse!

Ebdon is one of my faves ! He's a genius. A slow genius, granted, but a genius nonetheless. He'll be back next year to collect World title number 2 Wink

RE: Snooker
The fact that Williams, Stevens, Ebdon and Dott failed to qualify for me shows that the current tournament structure and ranking system is working.
More tournaments, more matchplay for all players on the circuit is narrowing the gap between the top 16 and the rest to the point where nobody is safe.
Better quality of play from more players all round.

No Stevens either?! Better and better!

Fact is, the old guard have to make way eventually, otherwise it would make all the Darwinians very upset.

RE: Snooker
My tip for the title: Ronnie O'Sullivan
Outside bet: Barry Hawkins

They are in the same half of the draw.

RE: Snooker
Intriguing first day at the Crucible.
Ronnie saw off Robin Hull 10-4 without being at his best.
Elsewhere crafty Ken Doherty recovered from a shaky start to trail Stuart Bingham only 5-4 overnight.
Shaun Murphy lost his way from a good start to trail Stoke potter Jamie Cope by the same score.
Glaswegian Stephen Maguire faces a battle to reach round two after Ryan Day surged into a 6-3 lead while Ali Carter is engaged in a real tussle with China's Xiao Guodong leading by the odd frame going into their final session.

RE: Snooker
Darling of Dublin Ken Doherty is through to round two after an excellent surprise win over Stuart Bingham.
Trailing 5-4 overnight the popular Irishman reeled off all six frames of this morning's session to win 10-5.
At one stage he trailed 3-0 so in effect he won 10 of the last 12 frames.
