UFD 321

The main event at UFC 321 was marred by the eye poke of Cyril Gane on UFC HW champion Britain's Tom Aspinall before the end of the first round.

Intentional or not, the fight was ruled a no contest, and it is apparently only the second time that a main event in the Octagon has been ruled a no contest. Reports suggest from the UFC eye doctor that Tom hasn't suffered any lasting damage but would think now the UFC does need to address the issue pretty quickly. I think I take the view of Michael Bisping on his podcast that fighters should now be instructed to keep fingers bent at all times and also should be warned before the fight starts that any attempt to an eye poke should result in first a warning from referee and a repeated attempt should result in a point deduction.
