RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I highly recommend the Jurassic Trilogy on blu ray as now its at a cheap price of £10.95, i choose the version without teh digital copies as i have them on dvd already. You get three disc's with this version so each film is one disc. All three films have a good transfer but first one is the weakest one in places it looks a little grainy but i guess this due to the of the film but its still a huge improvement over the dvd version, by the time you get the second film the transfer is really great, theres a lot a detail and all the images, there is a tiny bit of grain but you hardly notice it. When you get to the third one this one by far has best transfer again the images looking detailed, crisp and sharp. All the films are running at 1080p and you do see the difference in picture quality. As for the sound dept all three films are stunning and you really get more of a benefit having the films played through a 5.1 cinema system, you hear every sound right down to the sounds in the back ground or in the distance will back you jump as it sounds like the dinosaurs are right next to you. Each film is filled with tons of extras and access to tons more by getting the app, the extras are the same as the dvd box set but there some new extras added to each film. Now is it worth upgrading i would say yes if your big fan of the films and wanna get it this cheap price. Smile

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I highly recommend Avengers on blu ray i and yeah i know its called Avengers Assemble but i hate the name lol, now the one review is the steel book one. Now its comes in a nice black steeless steel casing which looks very nice with A for Avengers on the front which looks very smart and you have the characters from the film on the spine of steel book. Now the picture quality of the film looks stunning the transfer is 1080p so everything is in high detail, the colours are rich and the images very detailed especially in the big action scenes and not a single sign of grain any where on the film excellent transfer. The sound is awesome you really need to have this hooked up to a 5.1/DTS cinema system the film score, things like explosions and speech from the actors is amazing. Now when it comes to extras this where the film disappoints you would think that with one of the biggest films of the year that there would tons but there isn't and its no where as good as its american counter part some of the extras been taken off, no digital or dvd copy and no commentary. Now the Sainburys version of blu ray does come with a 90 min documentary but even your still left short in the extras department shame on you Disney. I still highly recommend this film on blu ray for the movie but for the extras very disappointing and one finally thing the film been edited since its cinema release a man gets stabbed and the in cinema version you see the blade go right through him in the blu ray you don't totally see it.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
thats how im reccomending avengers assemble as well, not for the extras which are poor, just get extended and deleted scenes, including alternate opening and alternate ending, outtakes, a look at how the film was made and a marvel short, which is nothing compared to the us bluray. the film itself is so good it more than makes up for the lack of extras and then some

will be getting the sainsburys one as the sleve artwork is different and the 90 min documentray. then ill have a bluray for my main bluray player downstairs and my bedroom bluray player too

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I only got the steel book version as i know its gonna worth something in the future limited steel books over time always go up in value plus i used a voucher so paid only 12 quid instead of 16 pounds, as for the documentary its available online anyway and reediting the film for the blu ray release was poor Sad.

Thought something had been edited. My blue ray shows length of movie as 137 minutes but I am sure at the pictures it was 150 minutes. I have to be wrong about that as they can't have robbed us of a whole 13 minutes Surprised
Having said that I read it was 3 hours long before the scissors got to it in the editing room.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
think i know why avengers assemble has been edited from the cinema running time of 143 mins to the dvd/bluray release of 137 minutes. think its because of the different ratings it got. in the cinema avengers assemble was 12A whereas on dvd & bluray it's a 12.

seen this on the bbfc website which offers another explanation

Quote:When a film is transferred to video the running time will be shorter by approximately 4% due to the differing number of frames per second. This does not mean that the video version has been cut or re-edited"
not just the uk getting a edited bluray/dvd release, apparently some european countires are too including germany. the bbfc have had complaints from the public about avengers assemble being re-edited for home release and are investigating as a film cannot be re-edited after classification

Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe it was called Avengers Assemble only for the UK market to differentiate it from the The Avengers film made a few years back which was an update of the series of the 60's and 70's

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Having just watched The Avengers again got to say wow even better than I remember. Film of the year for me. Action, humour, decent plot, good cinematography...oh and Scarlett in tight leather.
For all the cool and good looking super heroes in it, have to say The Hulk is the one lol

PS As with all the Marvel movies-In case anyone ejects too early at the end....let the credits roll completely for two little extra clips!

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
More information as fans are pissed off Disney, personally they bought it on themselves:

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/...e_continue

As for the title change your pretty much spot on they must think we're so dumb we can't tell the difference between that turkey of the film The Avengers and this film for me am calling it The Avengers lol.
Back to the editing of The Avengers (the good one) not sure i believe its to do with the 12A to 12 cent was the issue Batman: Dark Knight was a 12A in the cinema had a few nasty bits but on blu ray is a 12 ceft and hasn't been edited and seeing as the BBFC are looking into to it tells you something i bet its Disney being over protective over scene. Here's a couple of films that were edited on dvd but left uncut on blu ray, In The Line Of Fire, Cobra, Die Hard 3, Commando. Believe it or not the James Bond films Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies were cut but were released uncut when they released the Bond films on Dvd again but as two disc ultimate editions.
