the models are doing this of their own free will, they are not being exploited, forced or degraded at all. also for me feminism & women's rights is women being allowed to do whatever they want with no barriers or restrictions. yet here we are with women (so called feminists) telling other women they cant be a grid girl
love the hyprocrisy from the woman against grid girls on the good morning britain interview. kicking off about women being objectified as grid girls, yet when it was pointed out to her F1 has male grid boys she says "I'm up for that"
then there was hypocrisy from Melinda Messenger who was on the wright stuff today via phone supporting the decision to drop grid girls yet what did she do for several years....SHE WAS A GRID GIRL FOR JORDAN RACING!!!!!!!
then Beverley Turner was a hyprocrite yesterday on itv evening news supporting the decision yet she had worked as a presenter on ITV F1!!! and had been a model
finally in my rant there was a debate on loose women today about this and two of them were against grid girls even though 2 of the loose women have been grid girls!!!!
Rant Over
Good point,Melinda Messenger as well as Amanda Lamb both mentioned on the Wright Stuff this morning that they both were former Grid Girls who really enjoyed the job at the time & earned good money from it but don't find suitable today. It all smacks of 'I'm all-right Jack (I made my money & fame) fuck the rest of you' attitude & every former model who have been involved in that line of work I've seen interviewed never had a bad word to say about it.
I just believe that there is an ever-increasing group of people (the ultra pc-type that become offended on behalf of someone who might be offended) who frown upon the whole 'Glamour Model Profession' & talk it down as they don't see it as a 'proper job' & probably aspire all females to become either mp's,scientists, brain surgeons etc.
In my early 20's (which was over a decade or so ago) I used to date a girl who worked in the glamour industry shooting lingerie & sportswear shoots & a bulk of the money she earned was funding her way through college & university (where she wanted to study law) like many other girls in the industry who have similar goals & aspirations .There have been quite a few academic & university educated women who opted to work in the Glamour Industry like Melinda Messenger,Lucy Pinder etc.
I think that the brood who want to ban anything where a member of the female sex exposes a little bit of flesh would be far better venting their disapproval at producers of those 'dog shit' reality shows where the concept is plying attractive looking men & women in secluded areas expecting them to have sex, this is far more demeaning than a glamour model or a grid girl holding up a placard.
With PDC banning walk in models & now the ban on grid girls what an earth follows next? banning ring girls at boxing matches, banning cheerleaders, banning ball-boys & girls at tennis matches, banning life-guards at swimming pools or the beach from wearing swimwear, banning beauty pagents & Miss World etc at this point I wan't the world to stop so I can just get off ffs.
I'm no female & so have no inkling of what the true meaning of 'Feminism' but I sure would like think it would support women in any profession or career of their choosing without being shouted down & belittled by the sisterhood.
As Rake rightly iterates in his comment at the current speed of travel of this agenda from the PC Brigade we may be getting to the point of the Lexicon we cannot retreat back from in a place where we are not just told what to say but what to think as well.
A place where asking out a man or woman & using a few misplaced words could possibly end up with a 'sexual harassment' charge. And a place where a person like me has 'old fashioned values' like holding doors open for women, giving up my seat on the train etc, paying the bill on a date etc would probably be perceived as an 'out-of-touch dinosaur'.
Apologies for my long-winded rant (phew).
