But still i wouldn't of expected the fighters pay to be decided by the gate revenue especially as US PPV is $50 with possibly 700,000-1m buys thats $35m/$50m if all PPV money goes to the UFC then no wonder Dana & the Fertitta brothers are smiling, they're robbing the fighters blind. I've said in this thread before it may only be a matter of a few years before the top level title contenders are being payed like PPV boxers.

White must be roling in it lol I think for Carwin and Sonnen to earn so little compared to ther opponents in title fights is a shocker.I would love to know how they calculate the cash in the UFC.

I think the pay in title fights is maybe done on the fighters UFC stature rather than the occasion?
Joe Silva picks fights on the possibility of the fighters performance sometimes regardless of their length of time in the UFC & now with the UFC bigger than ever the saleability of the fight is just if not more important to Dana White.

A few years ago Marcus Davis won his first 6 fights in the UFC & was on a 11 fight win streak in total but never got near a title shot. Michael Bisping is the winner of TUF & has had 12 fights loseing only 3 albeit to top opponents but even if he beats Akiyama he still won't get Anderson Silva in his next fight???
Ryan Bader is the TUF winner & is 4-0 in the UFC 12-0 over all the same as Shane Carwin, if Bader beats 'Little Nog' (Sep25th) will he get a shot at the winner of 'Shogun' v Evans this time next year... Well no cause he will have to wait 1 year to fight again but you get what i'm sayin.
Rampage came into the UFC albeit with a successfull career in a big organisation but still fought for the title in his second fight. Brock Lesnar came into the UFC an mma novice & in his 3rd fight with a 1-1 record he became the heavyweight champion.
Chael Sonnen had 4 UFC fights 3-1 record & then faced Anderson Silva.

My point being the fighter is chosen by Joe Silva on the probability rather than UFC record compared to some other fighters who may have a longer & equal record in terms of win percentage, where as Dana will pay the fighter based on their time with the UFC regardless of their over all record, Sonnen is 36F 24W 11L 3-1 in the UFC hence the $35,000. It also depends on the sellability of the fighter i.e. Clay Guida is 38F 27W 11L over all with a 7-5 record in the UFC, his record is almost even yet he was payed $56,000 + $28,000 win bonus in his last fight $21,000 more than Sonnen's fight fee Guida win or lose is a big fan favourite & always puts on a great show thats why he gets payed well. the figures that are released don't include any added bonuses remember.

Sonnen's pay will now shoot up in his next two fights to around $60,000-$70,000 as he has now proved to Dana that he can draw a big crowd like he did against Anderson Silva with his performance... & we know which of his two performances i'm talking about in terms on sellability!!!

Yeah Mitchell good post.It looks like the big earners are chosen from the beggining a lot of the time.
I would be pissed off though if i had say an undefeated record and still i wasn't getting the shot i deserved or the good money...
Suppose the title shot and eventually the big money would come sooner rather than later if u kept knocking on the door.

This tells me Brenneman albeit only 2 fights in UFC but maybe cut after 4/5 fights, John Hathaway if he beats Mike Pyle (17 subs from 20w) then he maybe in line for a title shot within his next 2 fights, Johny Hendricks is someone they have big hopes for & will get a big or tricky oppo in his next fight (Hathaway)??? & Kempmann is a fighter who like Marcus Davis no matter what he does will always be the guy who is put in front of a possible title challenger to see if they can beat the steady Martin Kempmann & look good doing it.

Its a good but unfair on some way of doing things as the UFC has a shit load of fighters & not enough shows to put them all on, personally i think Joe Silva does a good job with the top fights but people like Kempmann & Bisping are always gonna be the fall guys.

I think they should put on a fans choice card with 2 fights from every weight class.
The fans could vote for there prefered match ups on ufc.com.
Just as a one off every year.I think that would really boost the sport.

That would be a Stephan Bonnar v Forrest Griffin moment all over again the fans would go crazy UFC.COM Dana's twitter & most of the mma forums would crash due to all the requests.
