Euro 2024 Qualifiers & Tournament

Serbia are ranked some THIRTEEN places below us in the rankings, and had we created & taken chances far better we should have won far more comfortably. I gut the feeling against Francec or Germany or even Italy we would have been taken apart quite early and and they would go through us like a hot knife through butter and I expect no Quarter given against Denmark.

Lots of negative comments in the media about two of the players. I'm prefering to go for the positive. Declan Rice is proving to a world class holding defender. And Pickford proved to be a great international goalkeeper.
People may not have been impressed with the performance but it's the result that counts.

I agree, I think it is churlish to pick on individual players. It’s hard to really fault any of them, tbh. I think they all did what they were told to do in the system they’ve been asked to play. There were no real howlers, no one was a spectator, and there were a few standout performances by Bellingham, Saka, Pickford, etc.

I’ve never been one to think that a win isn’t a win if you don’t win by four. I love a good tackle as much as a goal, and have a lot of respect for the 1-0!

But, in this case, I think there was a missed opportunity by not pressing harder for the second goal. We’ve come into the tournament as favourites, and a more decisive victory would have encouraged other teams to show us the same (undo?) respect that Serbia showed us in the first 20 minutes last night. We dominated that period because — let’s face it — Serbia let us have the ball. It all got much more difficult the minute they woke up and started pressing.

(It was like that bit in Rocky IV when Rocky draws blood from the big Russian: “You hurt him! You see! He’s not a machine….” …)

It would have been nice to feel like Drago for another game or two… ?

Stunning defeat for Belgium!!

Well the euros got flipped upside down earlier with Romania and Slovakia both winning

So it took a lucky (Or unlucky whichever way you look at it) deflection for France to Beat Austria, but the real Stunner is Slovakia stunning Belgium. I think many expected Belgium to steamroller them & Belgium I believe had a goal chalked off by VAR in the last 15 minutes. Wonder if we will get a unfancied team into the KO stages with the results as they are As For France - Austria. I think Austria probably would have got a point out of it tf the own goal hadn't
happened. I wonder if the way to beat France would probably be to unsettle them and pressure them into giving up posession - in other words not let them dictate the pace of the game.

I could have swarn that the crowd at the Austria v France match were singing Hey Jude.

Understandable when England play but just odd when he's not. Unless a lot England fans had got tickets to the match.

Wouldn't have surprised me if they did if theyu couldn't get tickets for Sunday or for the Denmark Game coming up.

No it was the French fans singing Hey Giroud.

It's actually an old Arsenal chant from when he played for them.
