Not exactly the result I was looking for, but hats off to Mayweather as he got the job done, and in good fashion too. McGregor definitely took the first few rounds but was unable to mantain such a pace and looked really gassed mid fight.

The boxing world can groan a sigh of relief laugh Rolleyes

RE: Floyd Mayweather V Connor Mcgregor
Like him or hate him McGregor deserves huge credit for making it a competitive although a bit one-sided fight against one of the best boxers of all time (& lasting longer than Ricky Hatton). The physical difference between the two was massive & is down to the sheer difference in mma & boxing training.I don't think McGregor looked hurt by any punches at the end but looked physically knackered. I was impressed with McGregor's footwork at times switching from orthodox to southpaw gave Mayweather a few puzzles to solve early on.The only thing I was a tad disappointed with is that McGregor opted for the pitter-patter punches instead of composing himself with a few power punches mixed in with lighter punches. From around the 3rd round on McGregor was clearly having stamina problems so whether McGregor trained for a short fight who knows but as someone who has boxed in the ring myself in front of hundreds of people nervous energy can sap it out of you no matter how much cardio you put in.Any fighter who says they don't suffer from some sort of nerves pre-match is lying it's how you control & deal with nerves that makes the difference.

Mayweather rightly deserves to be known as one of the greatest boxers of all time & as someone who has watched most of his fights his style has always made him hard to hit which has kept him as well preserved as he is & has never had to engage in last-man standing boxing wars.
He has retired at a good time with nothing left to prove & with his faculties still intact & with the emergence of of up-&-coming young lions like Terence Crawford (Unified Light-Welterweight Champion) on the horizon it's time to pass the torch to the next generation.

Like UFC commentator Dan Hardy mentioned after the fight I believe McGregor will box again with a possible grudge match with old sparring partner Paulie Malignagi (who McGregor was supposed to have knocked down in sparring) who went the distance against Mayweather a good few years ago.

Dan Hardy is a very good pundit who does a lot of commentary whenever UFC are on these shores & was a pretty good fighter in his day.He fought for the title losing to George StPierre on points over 5 rounds a few years ago & was famed for his red mohican hair style in the ring.

Froch was pretty cutting in his opinion of Connor McGregor post-fight which was why he probably received the heat he did.Carl Froch a great fighter & world champion himself in his day was schooled by Andre Ward & made to look a novice himself in their title fight where he lost pretty much every round so for him to criticize fighters like McGregor was hypocritical itself.Tony Bellew & Matthew Maklin admitted they are both big McGregor fans in UFC.

As for more cross-fights Jimmy Manuwa (a British UFC fighter) who's UFC top 10 World Light-Heavyweight ranking has called-out Tony Bellew & Stipe Miocic who's UFC's Heavyweight championship has challenged Anthony Joshua.Even Tyson Fury challenged UFC Heavyweight Cain Velasquez a few years ago.

UFC's former Featherweight champion Frankie Edgar has been widely regarded as the best boxer in UFC (he has been trained by Freddy Roach) & has been touted by a few boxing coaches like Roach as being good enough to box at world level in the boxing world.Edgar has called-out McGregor a few times in UFC.

Just because McGregor decided to follow the route of MMA, doesn't mean he couldn't have been equally as successful in boxing alone.

Besides, should Mayweather lose, McGregor's success will be chalked down as controversial anyway, due to Mayweather's age and time spent away from the ring.

I think we can all agree we just want to see a really good fight.

mcgregor did himself proud. now he can go back to the ufc, 150 million quid better off and kick the shit out of anyone else who fancy's it.

Chuck Norris has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). the virus is now in quarantine for 14 days.

Absolutely.

I noticed the commentators mentioned that Mayweather didn't quite look as sharp as we last remember him. I'm not sure I agree with that. I think McGregor's initial speed and accuracy genuinely found a way through Mayweather's defence.

Another thing that has been mentioned is Mayweather deliberately letting McGregor gas himself in the first few rounds. Again, I'm not sure I agree with that either. I think Mayweather's original plan was to stick-and-move and do what he does best. But as we saw in the first few rounds, it definitely didn't quite work out like that for him. He had a genuine look of concern on his face in-between the first few rounds, bringing me to the conclusion that his original gameplan wasn't working. But then McGregor (unexpectedly?) began to fatigue rather badly, handing Mayweather with the perfect golden ticket to go headhunting and ditch the points for a Ko.

Whatever our opinions, both men put on a great show and I think it was extremely interesting.
