RE: Rishi Sunak - and his miserly Government
One Conservative MP standing down is none other than former Prime Minister Theresa May.

In her final remarks in the Commons today she said and I quote......

"I worry that today there are too many people in politics, who think it is about them, their ambitions, their careers, and not the people they serve."

Somewhat unfortunate then that in the very same speech she referred to being the first and last MP for her constituency before the boundary change and that she had made history in that respect after being the MP for 27 years.
And more unfortunate still bearing in mind she complacently called an election in 2017 that she did not need to call in a belief she would expand her parliamentary majority and extend her time as PM a little longer.
Taking the electorate for granted to stay at the top for longer anyone?

Not all about her at all.
Not at all Rolleyesbladewave.

RE: Rishi Sunak - and his miserly Government
This time, for the first time in my life I'm going to vote Conservative instead of Labour. Surprised

I think that Sunak is the most left wing candidate and he'll support the rights of working people more. He's had plenty of opportunities to end paid holidays, subvert the rule of law and ban trade unions but hasn't and even put Capital Gains Tax up!

I support the Rwanda scheme, it's a scheme rather than an intention and I think that Cameron is the best Foreign Secretary around.

I think Starmer's party isn't the Labour Party anymore and that he'll build a third runway at Heathrow, dilute Sunak's smoking bill, privatise more of the NHS and protect his rich friends in the city.
The Conservatives are reprehensible toffs but they're better organised than Labour. My biggest concern is that with so many standing down the party won't be the same party I vote for.

I think that the election will be a close run thing and that because of all the boundary changes and other shenanigans that the Tories have done, Starmer will do too many deals with the minor parties to get a strong enough majority. Smile

I think you need tlo think more carefully before you decide where you put your crosss on July 4.

I'm not making my mind up until 4 July probably won't do until the night before. If any party come round knocking on my door asking for my vote I'm saying that is a private decision for me to make when the election arrives.

To many of us (& me included) the Cons have divided this country and since the pandemic, I don't think we have been on anything of sound economic footing. Trusss did the worst damage to the economy and yet
she still thinks she did the right thing.
Economically, we willl still be dealing with the economic mess for many more years and it doesn't matter who is in Government, they have to unravel the mess this Goverment has made of the last 14 years to get our economy anywhere near where it should be.

Not one PM has ever really got to grips with the immigration issue, and I feel the Rwanda plan is one that is not one that will work and we need a firm PM to put pressure on the French to do far more to break up the gangs behind it all. I think sending them to Rwanda will only work for a short period of time as eventually they will find a way to get back into Europe and back here.
