RE: Memories of Childhood
Being Jewish I and my family celebrate it and did so with a Woolworth's folding tree(as kids my sister and I would decorate it with lights and tinsel and baubles) and hang various decorations including making paper chains and the traditional Christmas dinner(minus of course the sausages, bacon etc) but we also had our own version of Christmas called Chanukah(Festival of Lights-think Diwali without the bloody noise) and we would play games using a Dreidel(spinning top) and give each other presents and light a Menorah(candle holder) with colourful candles.

RE: Memories of Childhood
Hmm its a bit like an auction-people wait for the first person to open the bidding, so I'll do it and you can follow. At school both primary and later we would have a postbox where you could write Christmas cards for delivery to the various classrooms where you mates were. Each morning at Christmas time someone would be designated postboy(or girl) and it was their job to deliver the cards. In primary school you could buy cards for a few pence, colour them in and then put them in the postbox for delivery later. So having opened the bidding, what am I bid for the next story from you lot?

RE: Memories of Childhood
We used to have a school disco and at Christmas a concert. I was in the junior choir and belted out all the usual Christmas carols and my sister appeared in the revue dancing to Jingle Bell Rock(easily the best dancer among the girls) and then we all sang songs at the end.

RE: Memories of Childhood
For Cubs I remember creating a diorama with a model of a tank-not sure which make, probably British, and painted it and the background - it was on the way to getting my Bronze Arrow. Ah yes somewhere in a plastic tub I have a load of Humbrol paints, although after all these years probably dried up.
