An excellent very dark & at the same time very funny Sci-fi film starring Robert Pattinson as Mickey who is an "Expendable" doing dangerous work to help a planet's colonisation. I especially loved Mark Ruffalo & Toni Collette's performances as they were clearly loving & enjoying sending themselves up and chewing the scenery with relish

BLAST FROM THE PAST (6/10)

Enjoyable comedy starring Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone. Very corny film about a kid who grows up in a bomb shelter when his parents mistakenly believe that a nuclear holocaust happened in the 1960s. He emerges in the 1990s and it then becomes a fish-out-of-water rom com, as he stumbles his way through the modern world. It gets worse as it goes, but the first half is saved by Christopher Walken’s hilarious turn as the slightly mad and paranoid father who builds an extraordinary bomb shelter in his backyard and then misinterprets every signal that the bomb never dropped.

I've liked Jack Quaid since seeing him in The Boys and Amber Midthunder, well Prey was amazing as was she in it. They were both good in this, a bit of a twist in the middle, although it was sort of obvious what was going on before the twist, it wasn't enough to ruin the fun ride. Worth a watch imo.

The Sex Thief (1973)

A jewel thief goes round robbing rich woman. He's very good looking and charming so ends up shagging them all too, and they love it. It's the 70s so you can imagine the assortment of boobs, bums and bushes on display.

The highlight comes at the end when he finally comes up against the insurance investigator, played by Diane Keen, who has been chasing him all film. The tables are turned as he breaks into her house but gets more than he bargains for as she rides him silly, the lucky bastard.

Older members will remember her from the likes of Crossroads, Doctors and even Nescafé ads in the 80s. I had her down as a prim and proper actress who would never have got naked so it's great seeing her younger self playing a little nympho and showing off her lovely arse, amazing hairy bush and pert little tits.

Adolescence

Technically a TV show — a four-part series on Netflix. But so good that I binged it all in one sitting, so I’m a calling it a movie. A great movie at that.

The story of a 13-year-old boy accused of murdering his classmate. Beyond the ‘whodunnit’ aspect of episode one, it’s a deep dive into the impact of such a tragedy has on the accused, his family, friends, classmates and the investigators. Opens up a lot of discomforting issues around incel culture and the sinister effects of social media.

A technical tour de force too, where each 1-hour episode is filmed as a single shot, in real time, with no edits.

Worthy of all the hype it’s had. 10/10.
