RE: Cricket Season
wot does everyone think of the inclusion of Ian Bell in the 13-man 1st test Ashes squad, and also the omission of Steve Harmison, who had contrasting games for the England Lions, yet Bell-end gets in the squad. Not happy at all Sad

The wicket at cardif wont suit steve harmisons type of bowling. If england manage to win the toss and get runs on the board, then having 2 spinners in the team will be a real bonus. But it's a big gamble to take. Don't be surprised if harmy plays a part later in the series though. As for ian bell, he's a quality batsman but has a terrible record against australia. Don't expect him to play unless there is an injury.

England have a problem with backing the wrong people. How many chances has Ian Bell had?? Owais Shah gets half a series, despite failing, he surely earned his chance for a run in the side, same with Michael Vaughan, 2 good years and then a few good innings. And the ECB treatment of Hoggard was so disgusting, he's such an intelligent bowler, and was our best bowler for 2-3 years. 1 bad game and we chuck him out. I just hope we don't treat Broad and Rashid like this.

Totally agree with you about hoggy. Our most consistant bowler over the past 5 years and he doesn't even get a look in nowdays. I think in the end they dropped him due to his lack of pace, but that shouldn't matter when he's swinging the ball and taking wickets.

ridiculous if it is cos of lack of pace, because he was a canny bowler, used cutters and slower balls well. There's too much obsession with ECB, if it isn't quick pacey bowlers, its big hitters, or spinners and wickies who can bat, rather than do their primary jobs. If we had a Glenn McGrath, u can guarantee he'd never get a game cos he's useless with the bat
