Tory plans for Ofcom

The tories have never said they wanted to kick Ofcom out. Cameron made a speech saying that its powers should be limited to regulating content on the screen, and not deciding broadcasting policy as it can at that moment. The idea is to get Ofcom off Sky's (Mr Murdoch's) back, as Ofcom are currently insisting that Sky allow other channels to have football and movies at prices that Sky doesn't want to sell at.

We should know exactly by tommorow what kind of government we will have in place and I urge the babe channels to demand change in relaxing the regulations that are currently in place, they are way too strict, if ofcom are disposed of or are stripped of the powers that they currently possess can the channels legally then say that all the requirments are in place and that pussy shows should be allowed under the freedom act. This country is supposed to be a democracy and the uk should be leading by example.

And there's nothing there about altering the broadcasting code. Just the proposal to stop Ofcom determining policy (i.e. telling Sky they can't sell at the prices they want to).

I think it is ludacrous that as things stand at the moment a unerrect penis can be legally aired on TV, but a spread pussy cant Where is the logic unless the guidlines were originally wrote by homosexuals?

If you read the article again David Cameron stated that ofcom shouldn't be in power in terms of policy making which is exactly what they are doing when handing out massive fines to adult stations in which all they are trying to do is provide adult entertainment to the viewer is which is much appreciated and causes no harm what so ever and unjustified fines such as this need to be stopped, if you don't like it then don't watch it simple as that. Ofcom as a company are corrupt and the taxpayers shouldn't be funding there facist views. Ofcom are supposed to look after consumer needs and they have been allowed by the previous govenment to evolve into policy making machines.

Well Lynne Featherstone has been appointed Under Secretary of State for Equalities and wants to ban page 3 from The Sun newspaper.
Things may have just got a bit darker.

I doubt she will be allowed to push that policy through. As the sun is a pro tory newspaper and they will be pressure from cameron and all tory backbenchers to leave the sun well alone. Also the sun is a massive coperation newspaper there is no way they would take that kind of poilcy lying down. They would kick up a huge media shit storm, hire the most expensive baristors on the planet and take a case to the court of human rights on civil liberties and freedom of expression grounds.
