RE: Red Dwarf - Back to Earth Episodes
I'm back Motherfuckles!

I have to agree that Part 1 felt kinda forced. I just didn't feel any enthusiasm from the cast, maybe I'm wrong, but that's how it seemed to me. Part 2 left me lukewarm, too. I'm still interested to see where they're going though, so I'll reserve judgement until I've see all three parts, and maybe till I've given them a repeat viewing.

Rob Grant needs to get over himself.

I agree on that score! He writes some good SF novels, but he and Naylor together get the cosmic comedy spot on, every time. It's a real shame they can't work out their differences. Failing that, maybe Grant caould work out that the film will NEVER HAPPEN and get back to developing the TV show...

Can't say I've read any of his novels. This might sound weird coming from a self-confessed X-Files and Red Dwarf fan, but I'm not really into Sci Fi, I'm more of a horror buff.

I just think he should be a bigger man and give the loyal, patient fans the send-off they deserve.

Last Human is worth a read, so's Incomptnce (It's spelled that way, honest!). Horror novels are your thing, eh? Have you tried Graham Masterton? The blokes a real pro. Absence of Beast is also a short of his worth checking out if you can find it...

-EDIT- This page links to a PDF of "Eric the Pie" one of the squickiest things I've ever read. (Not Beast House squicky, but close...)

RE: Red Dwarf - Back to Earth Episodes
Like other people have said, I think I need to see the third one...so far to me it seems like (original) Red Dwarf on Red Bull or something - I don't know if that's what they were aiming for or not.
They do seem to have managed continuity with the characters -some aging aside, which is good.
But was Cat ever quite so camp and flamboyant before? And is it my imagination or have his teeth got sharper?
Also, they kept going on about the meta and self-referential stuff a little bit too much for me tonight. Yeah, I got it, thanks.
I confess - the two moments that got me to laugh out loud were pure slapstick - the Cat getting his goggles knocked off last night, and Rimmer pushing Katerina to her death tonight - because I honestly didn't see that coming (I think I may have been the only one, though :rolleyesSmile
Incidentally, I really liked the way she said 'Bingo Jingo' last night - I don't know why...

It feels like they're trying too hard. Yeah, that's it.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's, though. Because it's great to see it back and on the whole they're doing a really good job.
Dave have done well and potentially got a whole new audience - I can honestly say it's the first time I've watched the channel.

Thanks for the link mr gummidge. And can I just say - Holy Shit!

Back on subject, at least we've had some absolute classic Dwarf episodes to enjoy. The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society - Epic!

I did think that Rimmer's entrance into Lister's reality was utterly hilarious, like reading it's a wonderful life get trampled by a porn filmBig Grin
