Not that I've been to them but these are well know for their derby day atmosphere.

Buenos Aires derby, Boca Juniors (La Bombonera) v River Plate (Estadio Monumental)

Turkey, Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray

Derby of the eternal enemies, Greece, Olympiakos v Panathinaikos

The atmosphere at European grounds puts us to shame, South America is well known for it's great atmosphere, take a look on Youtube.

The atmosphere back home makes the atmosphere here in the uk seem dead, too many rules and regulations really kills the games here. Check out Copa Libatadores on ESPN, its on quite late but always good games and makes a change from english football for those of you who haven't had the chance to see south american football Smile Boca juniors v Toluca was on last week Smile

You don't get this in the uk Wink

Not sure I count having my ear drums blasted out by a bunch of self-taught, trumpet playing morons as being a good atmosphere while at a football match. Whenever I hear the crowds from other teams around the world the 'atmosphere' seems to consist of some twat monotonously banging a bass drum, while the crowd seem to chant some boring dirge. I have to admit though as I have not actually been to most of these grounds I cannot be sure that what you hear on TV is the same as actually being there.
I go to watch and cheer on a football match, not watch live music, a firework display or a bunch of tossers doing a mexican wave. These things may have their place but perhaps I'm just boring and British; I like to be entertained on the pitch by 22 players kicking a ball (and sometimes each other)Big Grin

What a complete load of rubbish, you obviously are un educated in other peoples cultures, completely selfish view, Just because you don't like something doesn't make people twat's or tossers. Complete narrow minded person you are.

Why thank you. I do actually appreciate other peoples cultures and take great pains to promote equality and diversity. All I am saying is I go to a match to watch football. Yes the crowd atmosphere is a great part of it. I just don't like all the banging of drums, blaring of horns and smoke covered pitches. To me nothing beats the roar of excitement as your team races forward on goal.
No need to insult people for having a different view. We are all entitled to that.

RE: Football Stadiums - Best Atmosphere
Atmosphere isn't just people jumping up and down and general loudness for me.

It's the electricity in the air, the buzz, the crackle, colour, passion, excitement and belief you feel from everyone around you and that's before you even step foot in the stadium. The feeling that something special is about to happen will be there hours before the match. You build yourself up the week leading to the game and on the day/night your ready to go and play your part.

The best atmosphere I've been in by a million miles is Chelsea at Anfield 2005. European Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg. Words can't really describe that night... We made the difference. I'll never forget it as long as I live. Olympiakos at Anfield same season, Juve at Anfield same year. Chelsea at Anfield 2007 EC SF 2nd Leg. All brilliant.

Been all over Europe with Liverpool, best atmosphere was the 2001 UEFA Cup Final at the Westfalen in Dortmund. What a city, beautiful place. If you fancy a good trip somewhere then have a look at Dortmund. The buzz around that day was unreal, inside the stadium was immense. What an arena, what an atmosphere.

Millennium Stadium is up there as well.

Anfield on Thursday will be special.

Your exactly right groundnpound, i know different cultures do things differently, i just didn't like the way bytor labled people tossers and self taught morons, very out of order and offensive to my culture and other people. I prefer a carnival atmosphere at games but it doesn't mean that the english game is wrong and I definately wouldn't insult somebody elses culture..
