Smallville: Doomsday: Clark Kent vs Doomsday Preview

I think there doing a good job on smallville especially with the budget that they got to work with. I think what most people don't realise that its really hard to move everything over to live screen. I thought doomsday looked pretty good when you saw the finished version of him in ep called Bride, where he looked like the one in the comic except he was a lot smaller. If we gonna nit pick at doomsday looks like, then look at how superman physical looks like in the comics no actor could every look like that. The only other way of making look like the comic version would be to cgi it and i know people still would be complaining about it, you only have to look at the first hulk for that very reason. Smallvile is bascially supposed a retelling of the superman's early if it were set today hence why a good load of things are lot different to the history of superman which even in comics they seem to change it every minute and at the same time the series explains how his ment to become the man of steel which the films have only done briefly, in a way its a kinda like the marvel ultimate comics were the superheroes stories are being retold all this heard is this how smallville is ment to be about from the creators of the series. I know it may not be as strong as some of other series that are about or it may not be everyones cup of tea, but i just try to enjoy it for it is. On a slightly different note am really glad that they finally bought back superboy i.e the clone superman.

They don't seem to be leaving any room for when actually becomes superman.

Thats because of DC Comics not allowing them to certain things to the series, like for example they wanted bruce wayne to appear in before he was batman, plus there not too keen on him having the tights and being able to fly, they see it as that it affect the idea of if they ever decide to do another movie, which personal i think is really silly if any thing it do the opposite i read about as to why he do all these things in the lastest issue if scfi now with producers of smallville. We can only they change there minds, i mean at one point they wanted lois lane in it from season 3 and DC said no and they did change there minds so hopefully fingers crossed this may change i did read some where that Tom Welling is doing another two season so that would take it up season 10

smallville started off as a retelling of superman when he was younger, but it definately split off into being more a re-imagining rather than his early years, its its own world, he's not gonna be the superman we know as such as stuff has happened totally different, so like i said, treat it as an alternate universe, cos you're never gonna be happy if you want it to end up the way we know it. part of it is down to DC Comics and part of it is down to the people that write the show wanting to take tons of stuff from the comics that they think will look cool, but totally messes with continuity as we know it. the showrunners have said that if there was another season, he will start flying. they just didn't want to chuck it in there randomly at this point.

kryptonsite has said tom welling is possibly signed up for 2 more years, but it also said it would never officially be announced. as for the no tights thing, thats purely down to tom welling, plus if you see how they've dressed most the heroes in the series, it just wouldn't fit, also wouldn't work since clark in smallville isn't wearing glasses, its gonna be an outfit more like green arrows i reckon.

No tights thing isn't down to tom welling its more to do with DC Comics, all the stuff i have said was from the creators who were on there up until season 7 of smallville. if you look in the lastest issue of sci now theres a interview with the current producers of smallville where there asked about the no flights no tights rule and they no chance of seeing that, having said that they did say clark now leaps, which they said thats what superman first did in comics he never flew at first. As for him signing another two years that hasn't been officially confirmed, but it wouldn't suprise me if it was as months ago there were rumours of season 9 so its all good. I think it will depend on how well season 9 does as no series is safe even when there given 3 seasons and they end up getting cancelled.

I do know that dc have a lot of say in what goes on like the costume for example, or in the ep called run bart allen was unknown as the flash till dc made them change it, its the same reason why bruce wayne has never appeared in it, which would have been cool. They only allowed lois lane in it as dc had a change of heart. i heard all this on one of extras on the season 4 dvd boxset. Thats kinda why with JLA in smallville you won't see the big guns like green latern, wonder woman, batman for example. All i will saw is come on DC let them appear on there would rather see that then that shit JLA film they were gonna do lol

nope, the no flights no tights is down to tom welling, allison mack's even confirmed it. so if he says it, then the producers are stuck with that, thus thats why they would be quoted saying that. I'll find the quotes i read and post them here when i have the time to look.

him being signed up doesn't mean there will be a season 10, its just a safety thing i spose, like i said, you won't hear it official at all from what i read. there's been many a show where people are signed up for 2 extra years then they don't get renewed, so really it doesn't mean much.

at that point bart wasn't even the flash in the comics, only impulse and kid flash. he only became the flash last year and that was only for 4 months or so then he died, now he's back, but back as kid flash. thats why he's called impulse in the series not the flash.

as for bruce wayne, they've just adapted oliver queen to be a replacement bruce wayne, they're similar enough characters anyway.

plus i think a JLA film would be good, DC are being sensible and waiting to see how Marvel does the Avengers movie before they do the JLA one. its not been cancelled, just put on the back burner temporarily. same with batman/superman, until they get superman right like they got batman right, that film is on the backburner

As i said am only saying what the producers of smallville said as certain things have and haven't happened. I can even see the JLA film even working, for a start they wanna use different people to play batman and superman they even wanna make them much younger so they can grow into roles, sounds more like teen titians then JLA. I mean this was the same people that wanted to do a robin spin off and make him much older and place him in college and call him DG and was thankfully scrapped thank god, really can't see the superman/batman happening either maybe as a cartoon movie simlar to what there doing with wonder woman and now green latern. If i can find the interview with people from smallville i'll put them on here.

What DC wanted to do was a year one of batman and turn it into a series, but the big wigs at warner bros either had the choice of making another batman movie or the series. The batman movie which ended up being batman and robin which we all know was a load of old shit. So a few years later they took the same plans changed it clark kent and then smallville was born.
