RE: Firefox problems
A couple more suggestions re earlier probs in the thread.

The issue with Firefox already running after closing is something that I ran into a while back. Turned out to be a corrupted profile. In this case, uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox failed for me as this merely removed/replaced the program itself but ignored the problem profile. To do a proper 'clean' I needed to uninstall Firefox and delete the profile folder. Do a search in your C Drive for any folders containing the word Mozilla (ensure you have show hidden files set to yes otherwise you won't see them!). The profile folder should be in C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla (ensure you have show hidden files set to yes otherwise you won't see thrm!). You can copy items out of 'bookmarkbackups' and copy these back later but add-ons will have to be re-installed. Now delete those Mozilla folders. Now a Firefox re-install will be clean. Worked for me!

As far as not being able to open downloads, it is possible Firefox has 'lost' track of the download folder. Try creating a new one then go to Tools/Options/Main and change the 'Save files to' the new location.

RE: Firefox problems
hi guys, ive got a problem with firefox thats really pee'ing me off..wondered if anyone could help.

whenever do a google search, and click a link, ill get redirected to a random website.. i guess its spyware, but im not sure. ive done virus checks with AVG, MalwareBites and Spybot, they all detect problems, and will delete them, but still the problem persists. If i do a virus check again, then ill get more viruses straight away.

please help Smile

More info is needed
What operating system, servicepack number?
What version of firefox is it?
Do you have the same problem with internet explorer?
How do you connect to the internet.
I had a similar problem when I used to use the AnalogX proxy server. I used to get sent to wrong web sites. It was a problem with analogX not supporting network protocol 1.1, I had to change firefox setting to protocol 1.0 and the problem was fixed.
It sounds like you have a serious malware/rookit infection though.
Some more experienced expert might be able to help but they would still need the info requested above.
I use linux now and dont get these sort of problems.

Firefox version 3.0.11 is out now. I run firefox as administrator and never have any more problems. Touch wood.

Watcher is right, sounds like some form of malware, surprised the combo of S&D and Malwarebytes between them aren't removing it
Might be worth checking out Hijack This although I strongly suggest you find a forum specific to helping pull apart the data from it, unless somebody else here wants to pull apart the log file?

I don't even know who I am so you'll forgive me if I ask 'Who the f**k do you think you are?!'

It could be the Malware is recreating itself from System Restore points.

To remedy this you need to switch off System Restore which will delete your existing Restore Points. Now do your anti-virus, Spyware checks etc and let them clear out the rubbish. Switch System Restore back on and either run a manual create System Restore point or re-boot your machine which will do the same thing.
