Yes, and history suggests that's exactly what will happen. Mayweather grinding the fight down to a mind numbingly boring points decision. Although, he has said he will 'go after' McGregor, whatever that translates into? Probably a great deal of bugger all.
Anyway, I've put a small bet on McGregor putting his lights out, and It'll be a nice cherry on the cake for me if it happens. Not to mention such a huge historical moment in sporting history.

Come on Conor !!

RE: Floyd Mayweather V Connor Mcgregor
As far as predictions go my heart is saying McGregor but my head is saying Mayweather & for this fight I'll (probably foolishly) go with my heart & go with McGregor with some kind of stoppage around the 4th.Boxing is all about timing & choosing opponents past their peak which Mayweather has done throughout his career.
Mayweather boasts a CV a beating world-class opposition ie De La Hoya, Shane Mosley,Pacquaio etc but they were fighters a few years past their prime. The only up & coming fighter Mayweather fought (& beat convincingly) was Canello who froze on the big occasion.Don't get me wrong Mayweather is/was a fantastic boxer & a master of the hit & not get hit style of boxing.Age is not always a barrier in boxing but it can slow the reaction time that Mayweather relies on & the question will be what happens when/if McGregor lands the big bombs that he has despatched many of opposition in UFC.Many UFC fighters employ professional boxing coaches like Freddy Roach so it isn't true that UFC fighters don't have boxing experience.
McGregor does hit hard & has an unpredictable style only replicated by Naseem Hamed where his feet are in a wide stance & pivots off his legs with lunging type punches.I can foresee Mayweather boxing cagily in the first few rounds to feel out McGregor & suss him out & I can see McGregor going for the dirty boxing style (hitting up close & in clinches using his strength) & not fighting at distance that Mayweather likes.Judging by the comments of boxing commentators & current/ ex boxers the world of boxing seems captivated by McGregor's presence & trash talking & probably need someone like him to elevate boxing & it's popularity.

Whoever wins I hope that it's a great fight & competitive & lasts more than a round or two blowout,as I hope this can trigger more cross-brand events boxing v ufc that would boost the popularity of both sports with potential fights like Heavyweights Joshua vs Stipe Miocic.

RE: Floyd Mayweather V Connor Mcgregor
Logic would suggest Mayweather (and that's who I've voted for) but I am not for one second thinking it will be as one sided as many suggest it will be. Mayweather has beaten some of the best boxers of the last two decades (whether past their prime or not) and is possibly the best defensive boxer ever. McGregor just has this "X Factor" though, I think he genuinely believes with 100% confidence that he'll win this fight. That type of confidence and self belief could definitely be a factor. Mayweather has made a career out of not getting hit, but has he fought anybody with even a similar style to McGregor? Will that work in Connor's favour? I expect McGregor to push the fight, he won't want to stand off and "box" with Mayweather, I think he'll come out swinging and looking to try and knock him out. Will that play into Mayweather's hands? Make McGregor miss and gas himself?

So my head says Mayweather, and my heart also says Mayweather. I like McGregor, and while I don't want to see him lose, I would prefer Mayweather to win (if that makes any sense at all). Reason being, I think a McGregor win will hurt boxing. One of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves, losing to somebody in their first professional fight, who is likely to either retire on a fortune or go back to MMA? What does that say about boxing if somebody can come from another sport and beat one of the all time greats?

Part of me thinks this is a very intriguing fight, part of me also thinks this is a bit of a circus attraction. I don't expect to be awake to see it, but the first thing I'll do tomorrow morning is check my phone to see the result.

The whole thing is nothing more than a farcical money making joke designed to make the promoters rich.

Putting things into perspective; if the boxing world can survive seeing Tyson Fury take the heavyweight belt from Klitschko, I'm sure they can survive this also.
Just because McGregor decided to follow the route of MMA, doesn't mean he couldn't have been equally as successful in boxing alone.

Besides, should Mayweather lose, McGregor's success will be chalked down as controversial anyway, due to Mayweather's age and time spent away from the ring.

I think we can all agree we just want to see a really good fight.
