That's because the Smile TV channel has been loaned out to The Big Deal.

Er . . forgive my pointing out the obvious, but you seem to have ignored all this:

Every competition ("Competition") included in The Big Deal Call TV Quiz Service ("Service") is organised by or on behalf of Square 1 Management Limited ("Square 1"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 05003381, whose registered office is at Wessex House, Station Road, Westbury, Wiltshire, BA13 3JN.

Ofcom has fined Square 1 Management Ltd £17,500 for breaches of Ofcom's Broadcasting Code in respect of its service Smile TV (now operating as Blue Kiss TV).

Or am I mistaken about Blue Kiss being a Cellcast operation?

RE: Are Cellcast having problems?
Cellcast's financial results for the 6 months to 30.6.09 came out today
- first point to note is that anyone not familiar with Cellcast would find it very difficult to find out what the company actually does based on what it says in the results statement. Are they embarrassed by what they do??
- revenues were up no less than 29%
- but despite this they managed to make a loss of £383k
- so they need to find new ways to get more money out of us Babe Channel fans and so I see in the results statement it says "The Group also continues to focus on technology innovation, and in the coming months will launch new smartphone applications designed to drive increased viewer participation with our television content"

So stand by for the next ripoff service!

Seems some shows are also broadcast in the Middle East and India. Wonder how they handle the time difference. Must cost a fortune tob phone in.

Revenue = total income which will include all our £1.50 a minute payments
Operating costs = staff payments (including paying the babes) £564,062 + other such costs to total £950,431
Loss before tax = revenue less operating costs, less "cost of sales" (which will be mainly payments to Sky etc) of £7,976,933, less interest costs on the company's debt of £69,612, less losses on shareholdings in other companies of £15,157 - gives a total of a loss of £383,125.

Last year Cellcast made a profit only because it made £1.2m from selling off some of its channel slots. Without this the loss in the same period last year was £852,826. So the 29% increase in revenues (from our £1.50 a minutes) has reduced their losses by £470k.

But they are still making a significant loss & so need to find new ways to rip us off to get their revenues up even further!

Hope that helps vostok 1 - PM me if you want me to try to help with any further explanation

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation flackman, much appreciated.

The "cost of sales" part puzzles me though. £7,976,933 seems very excessive for payments to Sky. A single epg slot costs £80K per year and transponder space is £250K per year....

Even with the various Babe and psychic channels, it seems to be a lot.

There may be other things in cost of sales as well, but I can't immediately think what they might be

RE: Are Cellcast having problems?
Just googled a definition of "cost of sales"

Cost of sales
Definition:

On an income statement, the cost of purchasing raw materials and manufacturing finished products. Equal to the beginning inventory plus the cost of goods purchased during some period minus the ending inventory. also called Cost Of Goods Sold (COGS).

I guess Cellcast spent 7 million on fake tan then?
