Welcome to a brand new season of the Premier League and with it of course, a brand new prediction competition. Thank you to Snooks for stepping in last season to take over and congratulations to last season's winner, Kingsmind.
As returning host of this competition, I will be organizing the game only, not participating in the predictions myself. I feel that with my current situation with some ongoing personal issues, this way would be most beneficial to my own health, and most beneficial to the format of the game. I also feel that running this again will provide me with an escape and something to keep the grey matter active.
Rules
The rules will continue as before:-
- 3 points awarded for a correct score, meaning a correct
exact score;
- 1 point awarded for a correct result, meaning the same result but not the exact score;
- Each player will be permitted one joker per game week. This gives you a chance of double points on a
correct exact score only, making 6 points. Please indicate clearly on which match you are allocating your joker, preferably with the word JOKER or a J after the match.
- Upon completion of each week I will post the full times and the table from that round, along with the fixtures for the next round. All fixtures and results will be posted as they appear on the Premier League website. All predictions must be made in this thread only. Any predictions posted in any other thread on the forum will not be counted.
- I will always endeavour to post just one set of fixtures in one post. However, it may be necessary to occasionally post two rounds in one post. This usually happens during busy periods when there is a shortage of time between rounds, for example at Christmas. I will never post more than two rounds in one post.
- Please ensure you post your predictions for
all matches in the list. Nobody will be penalised for any missed predictions, but it is in your best interest to predict on all matches to get maximum enjoyment from the game. Please be careful to make sure your lists are submitted without missing ingredients.
- In the (hopefully) unlikely event of any matches postponed, those predictions will be voided and the match will be predicted upon again whenever it reappears in the season. If anybody has a joker on a match postponed, those players will be permitted two jokers in the round where it reappears. I will post the recipients of the two jokers in the future list.
- Throughout the season and right up to the end of it, if there is a tie at the top of the table, the leader / winner will be decided on scoring of totals in the following order: correct scores, correct results and correct jokers. If there's still a tie after all that at the end of the season, which would be a minor miracle, we'll just call it a draw.
---------------
Right, now that's all the rules out the way, let's get on with it. Manchester City are defending Premier League champions, while Norwich City, Watford and Brentford are the three promoted teams back in the top flight after, respectively, 1 year, 1 year and 74 years away.
We begin week 1 with an evening match on Friday 13th August, where Brentford open their debut Premier League season by taking on Arsenal at the Brentford Community Stadium.
