80% rise in prices pushing cost up to £3,500.

Now is the time for the Govt to announce what they are going to do after October or the New Year. the New PM has his/her work cut out.

I can almost guarantee that whatever the next useless PM does won't be remotely enough. The Tory government have allowed this to happen.

It never will be enough Skully. Doubt if what the Chancellor will announces now anything or substantial in it and if Truss orv Sunak appoint a new Chancellor, thewy will forget what was announced.
It is thought bills could hit £5K this time next year. I did hear on the radio this morning of a scheme they have in Turkey where people with money, help those who need help pay pay their bills for them. I doubt it would work here, but one caller called in and said people shouldn't expect Govt to help them, I almost agreed with him but then thought 'People expect the lead to come from Govt and they will follow', but this rabble of a Govt hasn't really led much since the Pandemic.

I read that the average price rises come January will be

France ( who own their own utilities ) 4%

EU average 41%

Great Britain 251%

Is this what they mean by " talking back control " ?

I think this crisis has shown how difficult Brexit has been to implement, but when you have successive governments (This one is now on zero incompetence) what were we supposed to expect? I wonder how just much worse it could have been under May's plan? Is worth even taking the hit (what it it would cost) to re - nationlise energy now and rein in prices before they get too far out of control?

The Government needs to bring that plan forward and implement it asap so people can plan ahead, but I have a sneaking feeling that either what Johnson called a "pipeline of cash/support" has come from raiding people's pensions. Or worse still there's fuck all. because Zahawi can't/won't get agreement and again siphoned it off to heat his fucking stables.

I doubt what comes out of Johnson's mouth these days can be trusted to even be the truth. I reckon it is going to need & take Cross Party solutiom to even get a concrete package of support that can be implemented. Yes blame Putin, but I think the warnings signs were there long before Putin invaded Ukraine and Government were too slow to act. (as always).

You could point this back to Thatcher's Government and say ""That probably was the catalystfor all this" it was her administration that kicked off all the privatisations.
