Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny


Awful. Really bad.

Loooooong.

Lots of chatter about its ‘wokeness’. Aging white male legacy character constantly shown up by younger, female hero who can do no wrong.

The criticism isn’t entirely misplaced, but that’s the least of its problems.

A hallmark of the Indiana Jones movies has always been the inventiveness of its action set pieces: a rolling boulder, a mine car chase, the boats in Venice, etc.. Here, two of the three big set pieces are the same kind of car chase you’d find in any Bond or Bourne movie.

I had the same problem with the de-aged CGI bits that I did with the Princess Leia scenes in Rise of Skywalker — you can’t NOT think about the filmmaking, which takes you out of the film.

And Indiana Jones is essentially a spectator in the final act, which is really disappointing.

RIP Indiana … you deserved better

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Pt1

The 7th film in the Mission Impossible franchise which for me is the best film in the franchise so far without a shadow of a doubt.

It's got everything you expect from a Mission Impossible film & then some including the best set piece in the franchise where Ethan Hunt jumps of a mountain on a motorbike and lands on a moving train!!!!

Of the cast, Tom Cruise & the rest of the returning characters are all brilliant, but for me Hayley Atwell is the star of this film with a career defining performance as Grace. Another MI newcomer Pom Klementieff, steals the show in all the scenes she's in

Scream 2022

Plane - 7/10.

Gerard Butler stars as the pilot who makes a successful landing of a plane struck by lightning but does so in a war torn area.

Unfortunately many of the passengers then get taken hostage by a rebel militia group.
The only source of help is a murder accused prisoner being transported on the plane.
Between them they fight a battle to save passengers and get off the island.

Old fashioned action movie that ticks along effectively enough to make it a decent watch.
