^ Yeah that doesn't surprise me TD. If he gets away with it he's fortunate.

Womens 400m final with Amber Anning going for GB.
Anning with an excellent British record of 49.29 just outside the medals. Well done.

So to the final event in the heptathlon.
Can KJT pull off the miracle of all miracles and do the unthinkable?

A pretty big 800m PB may be needed here........

RE: Paris Olympiad 2024
No.

Despite a PB it's SILVER for KJT.

She may be somewhat frustrated as she was chasing Gold.
The reality is she was up against a mighty competitor in Thiam.

Where was the Gold lost?
For me it was the 200m and the long jump.
A couple of tenths of a second faster and 10-15cm further would have reduced the deficit prior to the 800m to something feasible.
Both of those were doable for Kat.
The margins were always going to be super fine if Kat was going to get Gold.

121 point deficit was too much in the end.

But KJT did not do a whole lot wrong. All her events were either ok, good or very good.
There were no disasters.
It was only going to take a slight dropping of points to pile pressure on. To use a snooker analogy it's a bit like going slightly out of position on a ball in snooker. Trying to recover position gets more and more difficult.
It can snowball until a pot becomes too hard.
Same thing happened to Kat.

Fine margins. Tough school.
But a highly creditable silver for Kat overall.

Megan Keith represents all that is good about the Olympics. Yes she finished last in the 10,000m but for her that is not what this adventure was about.
After finishing a gruelling race she sank into the arms of Eilish McColgan with a big smile of pride.

To be an Olympian. There's nowt like it.

Well done Megan Smile.

RE: Paris Olympiad 2024
I hope KJT isn't too disappointed- she probably did all that she could do, I think and as you say Snooks there probably were very small margins in the end that could put the gold within reach. She probably knew deep down there were likely small things she could have done but that can be sorted out over time in time for the next world championships and I hope also for LA in four years time. I'm sure Dame Jess will give her encoursgement to not to be to disdappointed with herself.

RE: Paris Olympiad 2024
Imane Khelif, has won the gold medal, at the women's welterweight division. No doubt the controversy will continue.

People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.
