RE: India v England ODI and T20 series 2025
England were in control in the field, India 79-5, but lost control with the Dube, Pandya partnership. With the bat they are not operating as a unit. They look to have a long batting line-up but there's not enough substance. Top order batsmen are struggling to find the right tempo & method to construct an innings, often their downfall has been poor shot selection costing wickets & not recognizing key moments in games, losing clusters of wickets.
When you see how Root has played in the SA20, England are crying out for someone who is cricket smart, they have no solidity whatsoever.

This game looks over already.
India just clobbering the bowling.

103 off 39 balls Rolleyes

Absolute belter of a pitch so of course England make it look like a minefield and promptly get skittled for 97 Rolleyes.

At one point I honestly thought India would have got close to 300 as they were just hitting anything bad for 4 or even 6
The response was very disappointing once again pretty dam painful to watch

248 was at least 80 or 90 short imo.
India are cruising.

An improved performance with the bat, it remains to be seen if it is enough. Still issues with the tempo of their innings. Just 2 batters pass 50 If Duckett or Root had extended their innings beyond 100 the target would be closer to 350. Brook played a knock out of character, he needs to improve his game against spin, he has the talent.
England had a platform but exposing the lower middle order in the closing overs in not ideal & cost runs, we have seen far too much of England's 9,10 & 11 during this tour for my liking.

RE: India v England ODI and T20 series 2025
Jacob Bethell has been ruled out of the remainder of the series & although not officially confirmed the Champions Trophy after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 1st ODI.
in form Tom Banton has been added to the squad for the 3rd ODI. Banton last played for England in 2020, he burst on the scene at a young age with his aggressive batting style showcased in the T20 format for Somerset & became hot property in the franchise leagues around the world.
He lost his place with England after some indifferent form & slipped down the pecking order as others passed him. Being hailed as the next superstar didn't help & he lost his way, by concentrating almost exclusively on the shortest form of the game, his high risk style made it hard to find consistency batting at the top of the order. The eye catching innings were always present, & he has looked to be back to his best for a couple of years, waiting & hoping for another opportunity. Playing some 4 day cricket has helped him become a more rounded & improved cricketer.
His recent ILT season has produced 493 runs from 11 innings at 54.78 with a strike-rate of 151.69.
