And here I was expecting a comment on Joe O'Connor. The Leicester cueman has just cpmpleted a 4-1 victory over Matthew Stevens. In the last frame Joe was on a break of 147 but snookered himself on the black when he was on 73 and had to settle for a match winning break of 82.

Maguire continued in his bid to win the Welsh Open for a 2nd time, beating Sanderson Lam 4-2. John Higgins has some mojo going on with another whitewash victory, this time over Yuan Sijun. Welshman Jackson Page also got a whitewash, beating Tom Ford 4-0.

Luca's got Pang Junxu tonight. I'm rooting for Luca to get into the top 32 on the 1YRL to play in the World Grand Prix.

Mark Selby has seen off a rather profligate Jamie Jones 4-0 and reached the last eight.

Joe O'Connor doing well to shake off that "Ralf Little's stunt double" tag.

Impressed with Page's strong showing - can it last?

Luca Brecel has made it through by overcoming Pang Junxu 4-1 .

Jack Lisowski is the last man into the quarter finals after a 4-2 win over Matthew Selt which included breaks of 123 and a closing 131.

Selby's marathon opening frame win set the tone for a classic with Higgins. Whereas Brecel took his sweet time to shut down Page's fun.

Maguire's in the semi-final!!! Lisowski's centuries deserted him today.

Sadly the Craptain has just gone 4-3 up against Joe O'Connor, but still time for Joe to pull it out of the bag.

A minutes silence will need to be observed for the worst result in the history of the tournament at this rate.

I am suitably appalled and disgusted.

If the same happens at The Crucible I'm converting to watching Billiards.
