Gosh-this brings back memories! We did a shoot with that car (not me-our company) & it was an insurance write off before being put back on the road & blinged up as the BS car.

It as at Donny North & girls were offering kisses to anyone that text the number to win the car-it wasn't just one text, they were on a monthly sign up so you paid over & over again before (hopefully) you spotted it & realised you had to text STOP. It was legalised extortion & left a bad taste.

I think they must have been pulled up over it as suddenly it wasn't mentioned & not done again to my knowledge.

There are probably people still being charged for this "competition"!

kalel mate - Top Gear was the best job I ever had. At my job interview for it, the boss and I only talked about cars for more than an hour. After a while I said he hadn't asked me much about filming. He replied that he needed to make sure that I really new my motors (the filming stuff came later). The fact that I liked Lancia Fulvias and drove a Mk1 campaign GTi pretty much got me the job. Being in a car with Tiff Needell is like nothing else on earth - they reckon he's one of the best all-round (i.e race / stunt) drivers on the planet and I would agree.

One time I had a black Audi S8 outside my house being collected onto a truck, while a Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo was arriving on another one. My neighbour said to me: "You lucky cunt".

Those Audi TT's are very nice

Ford Escort Van (White with my name and trade printed all over it)...Loaded up with Tools!! And i gotta be a little bit careful at abusing other drivers!!!
Also a BMW 318i And the Head Gadsget has just blown!!!
So the good old reliable Escort is my main vehicle.

The Stig used to be Perry McCarthy, who drove 2 races in F1 for Minardi a few years back. He walked out on it though, coz Clarkson is an arrogant knob. Now it's a few different people, apparently, and I don't know who they are. Rumour has it Lewis hamilton did it one week....

First of all, BristolRovers you lucky fucker.. that is one serious piece of kit you have there. I passed my test in August and had a 52' plate Pug 307HDi, the 2.0 110bhp model, excellent car to drive and pretty nippy too. Had alot of fun in it until some silly cow pulled out in front of me on a side-street. It is now a category 2 write off Next vehicle is gonna be an old L reg BMW 318is.. for a grand! insurance group 13 though I think i'll enjoy going to work at 5am sideways
