Ronnie, struggling to find his form, lost 5-3 to Carter. Zhao Xintong lost 5-3 to Tom Ford. David Gilbert came back from 4-2 down to level at 4-4 with Si Jiahui, but Si won the decider with a break of 109.

Judd Trump made 3 centuries as he whitewashed Ryan Day 5-0. Xiao Guodong also made 3 centuries in a 5-1 demolition of Jack Lisowski. Xu Si beat Mark Selby 5-4, making a 71 break in the decider.

Tubbs and Carter both through to the quarters. Not good.

The 2 players I wanted to to be in the final were playing each other, and Judd beat Si Jiahui 5-2.

The battle of the granites resumed, and on this occasion Chinese granite won, as Xiao Guodong beat Higgins 5-3. Ishpreet got whitewashed by Neil Robertson, but Jimmy Robertson is still going after beating Jak Jones 5-3. Zhang Anda lost to Kyren. Bingham beat Tom Ford.

Quarter final lineup:

Kyren v Tubbs
Carter v Bingham
Neil v Jimmy Robertson
Judd v Xiao Guodong

At least one of Carter and Bingham will cancel each other out (I suppose a DDQ is too much to hope for )

Yes, even though Tubbs and Carter won the afternoon games, the way the draw was done means that there's now a chance of a Tubbs v Carter final. In the extremely very likely event that happens I won't be posting on this thread for the next couple of days. Of course they can also both be eliminated, so it's up to Judd and Neil to show their class and kick their arses.

I still have a sliver of hope for tomorrow's final.

Tubs seems to have given a sick-making interview about wanting to win a trophy named after his special mate (naming ones after Reardon, Davis etc is one thing). Presumably Trump will be "disrespectful" if he stops him winning.
