RE: Changing ISP
I have Sky Broadband- Ive had it just uner a year now and its been great- Only one problem when I had a virus and they helped me through it even though they didnt need to- No calling India either so its much better. There are some good packages on their website just now. I have the unlimited one

You do need to have BT line though so if you have that this is what I'd recommend..

RE: Changing ISP
Got to second dalebags here. Sky Broadband have been great with me. I've only lost service once and they rang me twenty four hours beforehand to warn me it would happen during some maintenance. Afterwards my connection speed was doubled as well! If you already have Sky the price is very reasonable as well for the unlimited package, although the connection fee is steeper than most. (free router plus one year's worth of full McAfee security suite. £50)

I have the 20mb Virgin Broadband service and it hasn't put a foot wrong. Being half a mile away from the exchange ain't too bad either.

RE: Changing ISP
I use Nildram at work for my broadband with unlimited downloads and on upto 16meg speed and office is above the exchange so can download a film in about 4 minutes which is great. Never had a problem with them and the offer both business and personal connections and call centre is in Manchester.

Also use bulldog/pipex at home which is also decent most of the time. Have had to call the helplines a few times in 3 years but they have been hit and miss when helping.

Pipex is now Tiscali after all the buyouts Tiscali di quite a while back so anything you hear about Tiscali should be similar for Pipex (I believe Pipex servers were fully migrated across last year). Same goes for my ISP (Toucansurf) and quite a few others (Lineone and UKGateway that I can think of off the top of my head)
All depends of how much you want to pay. My view is that most ISPs are much the same (apart from Virgin and some AOL being cable connections) until it comes down to support and/or capping. Personally I don't need the support but do look for unlimited downloads. Might give Sky a try myself in a bit but will not go back to cable any time soon after previous support issues with not only Internet but phones

I don't even know who I am so you'll forgive me if I ask 'Who the f**k do you think you are?!'

RE: Changing ISP
When you change over though if you go with the £10 a month unlimited one you wont pay the connection fee(it is a bit steep)

I have never paid a conection fee with sky yet.

Ive managed to get free movies, sports and even managed to get a free sky plus box from them. If you havent got one call them up and ask for a reconditioned box - its just one that has been sent back and fixed-Ive had mine for a year and a half now and its fine.

Will be trying to get an hd box soon

One more thing - try to get your broadband sorted for March as he broadband price is going up a bit- I got a letter saying they were freezing my price for a year as i was a good customer but you might want to have it inplace before then
