Well, Alice is on 914, on the satellite. So why they have Becky on both streams is confusing me as well. bladewave

As for the freezing & locking up. I've just given up on complaining to Elite & Orca. They no longer seem interested in fixing it. As long as Orca keep getting paid, for streaming crap, then they'll not bother spending time and money, to fix it.

But if I'd been having the same problem with a service provider, for nearly two years, then they would have been told to fix it, or get ditched, and I'd go elsewhere.

But Elite, have all there streaming services (ipad, iphone, webstreams, chat cams, etc) provided by Orca, and they probably think it would be too much hassle switching all these services to a new provider.

I dont understand it. Why??Huh

After a little investigating & admiring Becky(I get easily distracted) on the Elite streams, it seems there may be a reason why different people experience different problems on the streams.

Ch965 is generally the more stable stream. The fps for that stream is constantly around the 15 fps mark. The 914 stream is very variable of late and changes per stint.

The latest figure I got was 13.611fps for ch914. Kitty's last stint was 15fps, the previous stint was 14.207fps etc..... and has been as low as 12fps. Huh

This morning, the 914 stream had 15fps and the recording is faultless. I had a look at the fps for last night when Danica was on. 13.808 fps. annoyed

I also checked the last few days when I had no problems with the stream. 15fps for both streams.

With such variable fps on the 914 stream, it may explain why some people have issues and others dont. Chatgirls also have the same problem with variable framerates.

Well thats my take and I could be wrong for assuming this to be the reason why the stream locking up. The 914 stream is currently not at 15 fps, hopefully Elite can adjust the setting to test out my theory. Viewing the stream at 5:28pm with Becky on both streams, 914 is locking up and 965 is faultless.

My guess it is because Alice is on 900 as her primary channel, and 914 is the 'copy'? Rather than the other way around.

Maybe some sort of test as to how the new channel works when used like this?

Does seem rather odd no webstream though.

RE: Elite TV - Live Webstream
Thanks Josh, I came to the same conclusion months ago, and mentioned it to them. But I never did get a reply.

I think they work on a fixed bit-rate, and if the picture exceeds that limit, then it drops frames to stay within the limit. I've even supplied them with video evidence of the problem, by giving them a un-edited stream rip, to illustrate it. As I said at the time, it was screwing up the timings, so my player wasn't displaying the correct time length for the recording.

But they never did tell me their conclusions on it. Probably, because Orca never got back to them about it.

RE: Elite TV - Live Webstream
Why even use 15fps in the first place? That is a common rate for webcams, but web streams are usually at 25 fps when using the H.264 codec.

For me its conclusive why Elite have issues with their stream at times. Will they sort it, I hope so. Hopefully it doesn't effect Alice's nightshow.

RE: Elite TV - Live Webstream
I've just gone through this entire thread right from the start. Surprised

And I can't believe were still complaining about the exact same thing. eek

The one time that everyone had a perfect stream, was when they increased the bit-rate for Danica's show one night, and the streams worked perfect.

Now I know it's a bit much to ask. But any chance you can increase the bit-rate again, and see what happens. As if it is something that simple, that prevents you from dropping frames. Then it should have been diagnosed by Orca a long time ago.

So let us know if your willing to try this experiment again. And we can see if the streams work perfect during it.

And if it does turn out to be something that simple, then you have to decide if it's worth the extra cost of streaming at a higher bit-rate. to keep your website members happy.

ADDITION: I have also sent this request to Elite. So we will wait and see what they think about all this.

RE: Elite TV - Live Webstream
Well, a quick update. Jamie, Alan & Rob at Elite have been back in touch, and they seem to find our analysis of the problem very interesting.

They passed on all the info I have given them about this, onto Will & Isaac at Orca Digital, and we are waiting for their response.

It seems we may be onto something with this one, so thanks Josh for jogging my memory on the frame rate issue.

I'll keep you updated, as & when I get feedback. But trying to have a four way conversation via e-mail & the forum is not easy. laugh

All the best

Ace.
