I'm pretty certain that both Sunderland and Aston Villa fans sing You'll Never Walk Alone, Groundnpound.
It could possibly be as a stick to beat us with as everyone knows how much we detest that anthem However, if yourself or no-one else has any recollection of those fans singing it (and Newcastle United fans as well, if I'm not mistaken ) then it could be just a thing to wind us up.

Perhaps the likes of AstonV1 or some of the Geordies and Mackems could come onto here to confirm or deny it as the case may be. Maybe they just don't sing it when they play Liverpool for obvious reasons as the anthem is mostly associated with Liverpool, although Celtic claim to have sung it first (something I would doubt as the song was popularised by Gerry And The Pacemakers).

I'd guess that AC Milan probably adopted the anthem after that clip that you posted days after Hillsborough, but don't know when Borussia Dortmund started singing it, although I'd guess it was after 1997, as they were probably the best-received and most popular fans I've ever encountered at Old Trafford when they knocked us out in the semi-final of the Champions League, and they certainly weren't singing it then Foxy on Sportxxx - the REAL Cream of the Crop!

Been goin home and away for a while now and i've never heard Villa or Sunderland sing it?If they did sing the song you would've thought they'd have sang it with us?

Lindor has PM'd me to ask me to give my side on the YNWA issue...

Villa fans dont sing YNWA as standard but we have sang it at Old Trafford to rile United fans before (certainly i was singing it last season when we won 0-1 )
and of course we have another version of the song for when we travel to Liverpool which im sure most people know....
but to clarify..We dont sing it as standard..the only other fans i have heard first hand sing it
was in a pre-season friendly against Celtic a few years back.

hope that helps Lindor | |

 Above all in the world,

 Germany, Germany above everything,
 Above everything in the world!

Is anyone picking up a common theme here with these national anthems besides the poetry of the words!!!!! about how they talk about the GLORY OF THEIR COUNTRY AND LAND!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT ABOUT GOD SAVING A MONARCH WHO HAS NO POWER IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!! Seriously our anthem sucks, it should be about the pride of our country and everything that makes up the beauty of our country, not about one person

Fair point but as a pedant I feel I have to say that this, the first verse of the original song, is no longer used as the official German anthem, due presumably to it's Nazi past. They now use the third verse which goes -
Unity and justice and freedom
For the German Fatherland!
For these let us all strive
Brotherly with heart and hand!
Unity and justice and freedom
Are the pledge of fortune.
Flourish in this fortune's blessing
Flourish, German Fatherland!

I've long been an advocate of I Vow To Thee My Country being our anthem but I don't see it happening soon.
