So what football grounds have you been to and what did you think of them?


Personally been to

Peterborough - London road, personally I love this place just because it had terracing which made it a very boyterest away end. The only down side is there's no beer been at the kiosks

Bolton - reebok stadium, strange one this cause i don't even think the ground is in Bolton overall though it's a decent ground, good size concourse only downside was a load of Chavs in the home end to the right

Blackburn - Ewood park, I didn't like this place, parked for to far from the ground, it was freezing, had to go upto about 30 flights of stairs to get to the top teer, the pies were shit and the home crowd were terrible

Wigan - jjb stadium, another place I didn't like, shit home fans with a drum, music after a goal, souless dump although good concourse and top pies

Manchester utd - old Trafford, a massive place full of tourists with somebody selling any old tat with a club crest on, outside portable urinals sums it up really, seats very small for anyone with long legs(one of the few grounds I've had to sit down at) got frisked on the way in anarl

Scunthorpe - Glanford Park, this place is a toliet, I actually felt like going home after using them. Coppers warned us before setting off on our coaches that we wouldn't be allowed near any pub before the game, tossers!

Sheffeild utd - Bramell lane, I enjoyed this place, the area around the ground is a hole but the ground itself ain't that bad, the only downside is you've only got one choice of pre-match boozer and the police escort to the ground was a bit unessary, especially after been squashed between two horses

Leeds - bellend road, awful ground and one of the quietest home crowds although they do a decent pie

West ham utd - Upton park, I've not seen a game here but did stay in the 'hotel' decent old ground but the area is a dump, stay away from the pie and mash shop round the corner, it's rank! the boleyn does a decent pint but was told stay well away on match day as it'll get pwaper naughty

New Wembley, it's sounds stupid but this place is so big it's unbelievable, I've only fond memories of this place, everything is top notch about it, only downside is the cost of everything.

Last two of course are Boothferry Park and The Circle (Kc stadium)

Need to add alot more to that list, up next is the city ground and I'm aiming to get either, Brighton, Southampton or portsmouth done this year

The last time I counted I'd been to 57 in England plus Queen of the South, the Millennium, the Stade Velodrome and the Stade de France. The S de F is truly awesome, if you get the chance to go, do it.

I've been to about 40 in all, most of which were visited during the early 90s. I was a student in Sheffield at the time and Palace were in the top flight, so I was able to go to all the big away games in the North and Midlands.

My favourite away ground is definitely Villa Park, mainly because that's where the 1990 FA Cup semi-final win over Liverpool took place. But the ground also has a lot of character, with all four sides looking different. The Holte End was awesome when it was terracing.
The worst top-flight grounds I went to were Wimbledon's old Plough Lane and Luton's Kenilworth Road. It's strange to think that Luton spent the best part of a decade in the old First Division, especially as they're now non-League. But the ground was a real dump, so those fans who couldn't go because of their ban on away fans weren't really missing much.
Stamford Bridge was also a shithole when I went, before it was tarted up. The away toilets were in Portakabins, that's how bad it was, and the view was awful too. We got stuffed 3-0, which didn't help either.


BTW Gaz, what you need if you're going to go to a game down south is to stay over, as it's such a long way from Hull. Do you know anyone who lives in Portsmouth, for example?

I'm still a relative rookie when it comes to travelling to away grounds, but I can count the following football stadiums among my travelling adventures supporting Wolves:-

The Emirates (Arsenal) - This is a magnificent ground. I remember thinking when I got there last season that I almost didn't believe people could build such things.

White Hart Lane (Tottenham) - Been there twice, in each of the last two seasons. Am hoping to go again this season. Outside the ground, I was not too impressed with many properties boarded up and the high street looking a little derelict... but inside the ground it's definately one of the best atmospheres and surroundings to be in.

The Valley (Charlton) - Went there what seems like a long time ago now when Wolves just missed out on promotion. We won the day there though in a 3-2 victory, capped off with a last minute winner.

Stadium Of Light (Sunderland) - One of the farthest journeys I've made as a Wolves fan. Been twice and the air is a little different up there Was there to see a great 3-1 win by the boys last season.

St Andrews (Birmingham) - Sorry Blues fans, but I was not exactly blown away with awe when I clapped eyes on your place. But I was happy enough with our point we got there last season.

Villa Park (Aston Villa) - Was there for the first time last season, and a fine win it was too. Its a well designed ground situated in one of Brum's better areas.

Keepmoat Stadium (Doncaster) - Good enough ground, 20,000 seater and was pleased with the visit there a couple of years ago during Wolves' promotion winning season.

St James' Park (Newcastle) - Almost needed a gas mask when I finally got to my seat, right up in the Gods. Didn't like the lack of atmosphere caused by away fans extremely segregated, and the view of the pitch miles below was not the best. Plus, the scene of one of Wolves' heaviest defeats, as we got a 4-1 tonking there last season.

City of Manchester Stadium (Manchester City) - Although we were on the losing side, this is one of the better premier league grounds to visit. Fantastic stadium, and a really good atmosphere inside, while watching a superb end-to-end encounter between City and Wolves. Really enjoyed the day, and the staff can't do enough to help. I was so pleased I wrote to them expressing my gratitude - and letters of congratulation can be a rarerity these days.

Craven Cottage (Fulham) - One of those occasions when you feel like you're stepping back in time. An old fashioned ground that retains its character, providing a reminder of the golden age of English football. One of my favourite away days.

haha I'm sure they'd love to put me up for the night, it is looking more and more likely it will be Pompey though, Brighton is only next month and as im already going there at the end of this month im nit sure i can afford it, I'd love to go to st marys but that's a Tuesday night game, there's talk about us flying to that one

my fav away ground's London road i love the old style stands, Ninian park for the atmosphere and the Ricoh as we always win there

ground's i dislike Ellen road nasty fans, Home park nasty police, Withdean so bad i have not got the words to describe it

best moment - Selhurst park David Noble scoring the goal that got us to wembley

worst moment - Wembley Hull city play off final, the only time i have shed a tear at a football game

my next new ground will be Oakwell next month

I've not met a fan who did enjoy their trip to 'Bellend Road', the worst bit is the drinking in the pubs around the train station when all the Leeds tits turn up knowing the mass police gathering outside is a giveway that it's a designated away fans drinking den.

Wembley is supposed to be this state of the art super stadium which I'm sure it is if your in the executive boxes but for the average fan I didn't think it was that special. The food is shocking & £25 to park in the stadium car park is almost as much as the match ticket.
That said, given the size of it even right at the top level the view is perfect which makes it worth the money of a ticket.

Talking of views from the very top level, albeit not on a match day I've sat in the general seats in the Camp Nou & even at about £15 a ticket I still wouldn't buy one, the view is a bit silly.

As a Liverpool fan i've been over to Anfield dozens of times down through the years.

I lived in Holland not far from Rotterdam for almost a year and visited De Kuip Stadium or Feyenoord Stadium as it's also known for a couple football matches. The Feyonoord fans are rough c**ts by the way!!!

As i'm Irish i've obviously been to Lansdowne Road in its old state and also the redeveloped Aviva Stadium. I've also been to Croke Park where we played international football and rugby for a few years while Lansdowne Road was being redeveloped.

I have been to some famous and some not so famous...

Stamford Bridge
Old Trafford
Wembley (both old and new)
Upton Park... Still smiling, enough said
Brittania - Loved this ground, conference play-off final, lost on pens, but still a great day out and enjoyed my trip there.
New Den - FA Cup 2nd - Frightening

Bloomfield Road - Blackpool, before they reached the prem' they were a mid-table league 1 side, Aldershot were non-league at the time, FA Cup 2nd round, lost but had the best weekend, although didn't think much of the ground at the time, largely down to being in a temporary stand.

Not so famous...

Kassam Stadium - Oxford - Souless over-priced and crap boozers! Old bill treat us like shit so do the locals, good job we out sing the bastards
Griffin Park - Brentford - One of my fav' grounds, terracing low, behind the goal,, great pubs in the surrounding areas.
Stevenage -
Exeter -
Wycombe - Not a bad ground, nice home fans.


Non league grounds.... Farnborough, Woking, Basingstoke, Welling, Dover, Billericay, Staines, Eastleigh, Tamworth

And of course... HOME

I've travelled most places Liverpool have been in the past 10 years.Only missed a handful of trips in that time i reckon.Best trips are always Manchester and the jaunt across the park.

Fav grounds in Britain apart from Anfield have to be Goodison (hate to say) Villa Park,White Hart Lane,Millenium Stadium,Celtic Park,Upton Park.

Fav grounds in europe are the Stadium of Light in Lisbon,if you ever get the chance to go there then grab it with both hands! Awesome ground.But my favourite ground in the world after Anfield is the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund.Can't really describe how good the atmosphere was in there...Magical stadium.
