RE: Petition
If only we could get a representative from Ofcom onto Newsnight and have them grilled in very much the same was that Jeremy Paxman did to Michael Howard in this infamous interview, circa 1997 era Cool

RE: Petition
Can only agree about how dull the channels are. Main reason I watch these days is because there is nothing else on. Its rare to see anything that raises my, er, interest.

RE: Petition
Now then up to 430 signatures and up 13 from this time yesterday so encouraging signs that interest has been regenerated in this, maybe it has something to do with the piss-poor factor now creeping back into the shows on a regular basis with the bad really beginning to outweigh the good, encouraging signs but we still need more, so let's get to 500 by the weekend at least and a couple of thousand by Christmas, it can be done with positive hope so long as we all keep pushing this onto folks to sign across the whole board of forums, all you fanboys out there, stop brownosing the models for one minute and give 2 minutes of your time to sign and also realise just how much better your favourites will be minus the heavy influence that Ofcom currently possess. It's getting near Christmas, season of good will all and time for all too to get their finger out and sign this petition so that we might have some festive hope and renewed hope for the future of the babe channels as going into 2012 their future is anything but certain Cool

Is insulting the people you want to get signing the petition really the best way to go about it? Also, how can they take the two minutes needed if they only stop brown nosing for one minute? Wink

RE: Petition
You see ilovemegan I don't fuck around with my words, never have and never will, this petition needs a rallying call and that's exactly what I was giving it and you obviously misunderstood my post and put your own interpretation on it without understanding just the full extent of the point I was making, I'm asking people to get behind this cause and thought your take on me insulting the fanboys as a bit of a smartass comment to be honest, as the way Ofcom are going the fanboys need to stand up and take notice and that was my point all along so you can interpretate any way you like as I'll be damned if I need to explain my comments other than a kick up the arse rallying call to all on this forum and especially the fanboys as they'd be the first one's to complain if Ofcom decided to shut down all the channels tommorow bladewave

My point was simply that you're unlikely to get people onside by insulting them.

RE: Petition
Up to 431 from 400 on the 30th. It had slipped to halfway down the 2nd page of the DCMS part of the Petitions website, but has picked up recently and is at the top of that page, having been overtaken by a few others. With a push it might get back onto the 1st page.

Unfortunately 'BAN PORNOGRAPHY FROM NEWSAGENTS AND PETROL STATIONS' is ahead with 528 votes.

For what its worth 'Ban "sex for sale" advertising in all media' is way behind with 258 votes.

'Move the TV watershed from 9pm to 10:30pm' has 45 votes - about 1/10th.
'Block Internet Porn' has 38 votes.
"Ban 'Page 3'" has a mere 18 votes.
'Crimilisation of clients who buy sex' has 16 votes.
'ban gay and straight porn on Internet and TV' has 7 votes but dont get complacent.

Just seen "For the removal of adult chat channels and gambling channels on free to view/digital television". Only 4 votes so far but who knows.

RE: Petition
Congratulations Eccles on receiving a forum award for Broadcasting rules poster!

It is richly deserved for all the hard work especially in pulling together the petition plus so many informative posts along the way. Plenty of strong names in the running as well, kudos to all involved I feel.

Also nice to see this new category and hope it has drawn attention to the petition.
