What country are you in?

You don't need TV to see them anyway, as the channels are streamed online.

That's an interesting page, but right at the bottom someone says you couldn't get the signal from Africa, although he doesn't explain why.

^As you move away from the centre of the beam's footprint you need a progressively larger dish to get a signal. On the outer edges you will need a huge dish and even then you'll be lucky to get a decent signal.

RE: Astra 28 satellite dish
^ Yes there are three different beams in use on the Astra 2. One for channels intended for use in a large slice of Europe; one for some Middle Eastern channels and one with a tight beam focused almost exclusively on the UK (largely the satellite versions of our terrestrial channels). These beams are quite deliberately targeted with the intention of confining the broadcasts to areas covered by the rights packages of the channels involved.

Even the European beam's channels would require a very large dish for any kind of reception in Northern Africa.

RE: Astra 28 satellite dish
Annoyingly of all the BS and 66 channels on Astra 2 most seem to be on the narrowly focused UK beam (I'd forget any thoughts of satellite reception of these channels). Only Studio66 2 and Studio66 3 are on 2G's European beam:

e.g. https://www.lyngsat.com/tvchannels/uk/St...-TV-2.html

Here's the beam footprint:
http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/footprints/A...pe-Ku.html

You might get something with a 2m if you're lucky. Wink

Is it not possible to stream the internet versions of all the channels to your TV mate? (I ask because I realise there might still be internet censorship over there.)

I'm no expert on satellites, but I'm highly sceptical that you would get anything with a 2m dish. I'm basing this opinion on the experience of a friend of mine who lives in Sicily and wanted to receive Sky channels from the UK, but could get nothing there with 2m.
