RE: THE Cartoon/Animation thread (Discussion)
Been watching a load of old Justice League, Superman, Batman cartoons recorded as part of Sky Superhero month and some have been rated 15! One of them was in two parts 'The Dark Knight Returns' and that features an older Bruce Wayne who ends up in bed with Bat-girl!!! (Implied but not seen) but then she is killed off. It seems that 15 ratings suggests more adult language(that you can get away with in a cartoon) but mostly violence, blood spattering, fight sequences where both protaganists get injured etc.

^ I've got that as well, its excellent.Superb but very dark story, amazingly atmospheric animation and a top notch voice cast,Peter Weller is exceptionally effective as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

I think the darkest one I've seen is The Killing Joke with the Joker and Batman. I am not really sure why they have to have violence in a cartoon with very well-known superheroes I don't think it is needed. Son of Batman was another very good if violent cartoon, and Batman vs Robin had a good storyline but the violent aspect really could have been toned down a bit. Yikes! can you imagine Adam West's BATMAN of the 60's going to bed with Catwoman(Lee Meriweather) or Batgirl (Yvonne Craig). Smile He returned to that role two years ago in BATMAN & ROBIN-The Return of the Caped Crusaders featuring the original voices with Catwoman voiced by Julie Newmar. He died soon after that was made. Mind you Adam West turned up in some very odd films, one of which was a B-sex movie called 'Young Lady Chatterly' in the late 90's. Absolutely wasted in that one.

In this case mate they're echoing the violence from the comics which they were based on,all much more adult and gritty in tone than the inforced camp nature of the 1960s Batman comics and tv show.

I tell you one cartoon series I've been watching over the past two seasons, shown completely out of order by Disney XD channel is something called Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, a french/american thing set in Paris and about two students who are given special powers to become superheroes battling evil. It is well made, mostly computer-generated and already into a third series - problem is I've given up waiting for each episode to be released to Disney for transmission so I am going to wait until all 26 episodes are at wco.tv and then download them in the RIGHT order to watch probably nearer Autumn the way things are going. It's not just that series that is shown in the wrong order - Avengers Assemble was wrong, Big Hero 6 also and the newer version of DuckTales. Very annoying. I would write to them but I cannot find an email to send to. If you want to see MToLB & CN ALL of the series 1 and 2 episodes are at the afore-mentioned link as are the first 8 of the new stuff.

Okay so here is a look at Inch High, Private Eye "the world's biggest little detective"
You really knew this was going to be strange when in the opening titles sequence Inch is using a telephone to call his niece; he is inside the holes of the dial running back and forth to dial it. He jumps down to the receiver(which luckily is off) and shouts "It's a 409!" and "Geronimo!"* Oddly he is called Uncle Inch by Lori, the pretty girl who is actually Inch's niece, of the group that solves mysteries but that would be a little odd to have had a sister with a one-inch high brother-but in the world of Hanna-Barbera who are we question that! Big Grin Anyway Inch works for Mr Finkerton's detective agency( a pun on Pinkerton's detective agency in the USA during the 18-1900's) and safe to say he is not a fan of his methods of solving crime. He tolerates him but keeps trying to fire him at any given time. Inch has Lori his niece, a huge jock-like character(what the Americans call muscular-built) called Gator-why? we don't know-and a completely useless guard dog called Braveheart who is anything but brave (runs away when even a cat comes into view). However Braveheart carries the home of Inch High inside a keg akin to what a St Bernard has around his neck. When they are ready for action * Inch jumps down a long winding drainpipe and shoots out the other end waiting to get caught in a catcher's mitt by Gator. Meanwhile their favoured mode of transport the Electric Hushmobile comes up from the ground hidden under two trashcans via a lift.

The longest storyline stretched over three parts where an evil toymaker called Spumoni tries to lure Inch High into various fiendish traps(it doesn't help that Inch thinks the nice kind man who happens to make his tailor-made suits for him, is also a master crook) At the end of the second part Inch finally thinks he has captured him but it turns out to be a remote-controlled lookalke doll of Spumoni. Spumoni had made a fake Inch and Finkerton and was caught out after Finkerton the fake called the dog Braveliver not Braveheart. Another episode saw a bunch of crooks steal diamonds and bake them into bread at the World's Fastest Bakery(even the letters on the side of the van get left behind as they speed off)

The voices:
Inch High-Lennie Weinrib
Lori-Kathy Gorias
Gator-Bob Lutell
Don Messick-Braveheart
John Stephenson-Mr. Finkerton

Coming soon: Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch! (starring Marouane Fellaini and Carlos Valderamma)Big Grin

Smile Here's a well-old series that I remember watching as a kid : "Space Sentinels".
Not to be confused with Battle of the Planets.

Could not for the life of me remember what it was called - had to google "spaceship in a volcano" laugh

http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/s/spacsent.htm

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Sentinels

Can't believe it only had 13 episodes - must have been repeated endlessly as I seem to remember it being on a lot. That and the cartoon version of "Tarzan & the Apes", and the cartoon version of "Star Trek" - the original one with Kirk and Spock and all that mob.

You can find those cartoons at the same place as Space Sentinels. Think it was called Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle and there was a female version called Jana of the Jungle. I've downloaded all the Star Trek episodes from there.
