She has come through what has been many years of ups and downs and I think there was a point where she probably questioned if she could win a major title. But now she has added the outdoor title to her indoor title

If there is one thing I noticed is that the stadium was looking full last night, wonder how that happened when the stadium was nearly empty for the first three days of competition!! The criticism the IAAF got from the BBC for that was deserved, whether they did enough publicity in Qatar beforehand to encourage people to the event remains to be seen but I do think Lord Coe should have been there with Jon Ridgeon to answer Gabby's questions but his (Lord Coe's) comments doesn't in my opinion help thr fact that They should have not have staged the event in Qatar if they knew there wasn't any real interest in the event. And one athlete from Bahrain won the 400m women's title. Bahrain is one country involved in the political blockade of Qatar at present I hope no one from the Bahrain government will step in to prevent her receiving her medal because of it's political stance.
As for KJT she was superb, It is nice we are fourth in medals table, but I had hoped a couple more medals were within reach, but circumstances pretty much dictated things. And also so far we have not seen any story of any athlete failing a drugs test which is good, but I would not be surprised in the next few weeks if some reports of failed drugs tests surface, but on the whole Team GB have performed exceptionally well in some events and not so well in others. Too much expectation was on the shoulders of the likes of Gemili, Asher Smith and KJT, and really the rest of the team should have taken inspiration from their performances. But it does seem like the performances of several ran flat when it has been a long road to the championships this season, and many probably knew they could have done better.

So happy for KJT, I remember at London 2012 she made some real waves as a youngster in the competition but she had a poor Rio and it looked like she wasn't going to live up to the hype of 2012. Well she certainly came back with an almighty bang last night.

Onwards to Tokyo

I genuinely am so thrilled for Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
She has quietly gone through many trials and trivulations in her chosen multiple event discipline.
As Toni Minichello pointed out last night many were guilty of hanging a gold medal around her neck way too soon.
This did not allow her time and room to grow as an athlete.
After 2016 and 2017 she considered her future in the sport after a series of disappointments in global championships.
She could have walked away at the age of just 24.

But no.
Ultimately no.
She decided to change her training base, lifestyle and methods in a determined effort to change her fortunes for the better.
In the face of so much ache of the heart she showed fortitude, spirit, resilience and strength of heart to find a way.
Doha 2019 will have as it's footnote regularly pitiful crowd attendance figures.
But for KJT that doesn't matter a jot.
It was her arena to shine, to cast aside forever those demons of the past.
Her chance to soar down the home straight of the 800m, cross the line and try to come to terms with the extent of her achievement, the depths to which she had previously sunk and the mountainous height she had now scaled.

This was more than a Golden moment.
It was a moment of so many feelings, a moment of realization and moment to remember till her very end.
Congratulations to you KJT, I am very proud of you as I hope the whole country is.
A truly inspiring and magical moment to savour.

Awesome performance.

Women's 4 x 400 qualify strongly, but Rooney makes the men's 4 x 400 sweat for fastest loser place yet again, sat too long on the Japanese athlete but should have attacked a lot sooner, I would say the time isn't quick enough
