Can I ask if a new account is made by someone and he chooses a username, do the mods check briefly if a username is offensive or not?

Maybe if usernames are checked by mods before the account is activated by someone then this type of situation won't happen again?

Has anyone got any proof that this is a racist term? It's all very well making indignant posts about how awful it is, but a quick internet search shows that horrie the wogdog is a famous military mascot and the fairy wogdog is a character in the novel Watership Down. The same word is also used on facebook and twitter without any apparent complaint and elsewhere on the internet too. Most people who have posted in this thread seem quite sure of themselves, so perhaps someone could explain to me how they are so positively sure it's a racist term.

And another "famous military mascot" was called "N*GGER", just because it was an acceptable name for a dog 50 plus years ago does not mean that it is not racist in the here and now.

The Urban Dictionary has been ruled to be unreliable in the US as it includes user contributions and contributed definitions "do not always reflect generally accepted definitions for words and cannot be held to be reliable."

The U.S. Supreme Court said that "a reasonable mind would not accept the Urban Dictionary entries alone as adequate to support a conclusion" and that "while the Urban Dictionary might be an entertaining website about the English language it's not a reliable source."

Try this out, walk into an ethnically diverse area and shout "WOGDOG, WOGDOG!" and see if people are offended. You are losing the plot if you can't see that it causes offence.

All cool, the admin has made his feelings known, if WOGDOG is an acceptable name on twitter and facebook then he doesn't see why it is not ok here.

As Twitter and Facebook are american doubt they would know what the term meant as the term has more to do with the indian sub continent its the same with Wanker wouldnt get away with broadcast in the Uk before the watershed but its been used in a episode of the simpsons. you know the saying we are 2 countries seperated by a common language

I note that this Urban Dictionary definition was contributed by someone called ShannonJamesHopeCoolGuy69. It's his only contribution to the dictionary, so possibly not really an expert, and he offers no evidence in support of the definition. A different Urban Dictionary page claims that wogdog means rottweiler.

The word "wog" is racist. It's as insulting to a black man as being called a "nigger". So for me the username "wogdog" shouldn't be allowed.

The Truth said in his post " if your a person of colour, keep it to yourself" Sounds to me that someone has said something to him and its not just the user name he's annoyed about? He said a few weeks back that he was black.

Look up the word Wog instead of the whole word Wogdog.
