Fabio Capello Has Resigned As England Manager

The people who are going on about Hiddink are probably overlooking the fact that his last two international campaigns both ended in failure to qualify, first with Russia (lost a play-off to Slovenia) and then Turkey (lost a play-off to the worst Croatia team for ages). Both of those really should have been won, especially with his huge reputation.

In the end, it doesn't really matter who gets the job. England do not stand a chance of winning Euro 2012 ahead of Germany, Holland and of course Spain. Qualification for the quarter-finals, which the much-maligned Eriksson never failed to do, would be a success.

Can you think of a better english manager, the Premier League start 20 years ago and has yet to be won by an English manager so far we've had a one french, one portugese, one italian and two Scots. There hasn't been an English manager of the big four teams in ages, there hasn't been an English manager who's team is consistently knocking at the door of the big four in years either.

But his tournament record remains outstanding and he would probably do a great job for England in the Euros. However the feeling seems to be to go English this time, so unless Redknapp turns the job down it's unlikely that Hiddink will be considered.

The latest rumours say Brooking and Southgate to take charge, but it should be resolved sometime today anyway.

Is it really too much to ask for just an English manager who can relate? If there s one not suitable in th Prem League go down in the Championship and get one. The calls for Hiddink etc will purely be short termism we want to build something we have a decent crop of young players and really should have our eye on Brazil.

What's wrong with short termism - when the Euros are there to be won! It looks like it's Redknapp's job to refuse though, so expect him to get the nod. Jose Mourinho is the bookies favourite to be Redknapp's replacement as the next manager of Tottenham. There's also the question of the England captaincy to be settled. Most people say Gerrard, but why not Ashley Cole - the outfield player most sure of his place and the most-capped player available - unless David Beckham gets a call up.

Why are the Euro's there to be won! At best we are probably the fourth best in Europe behind Germany, Spain, Holland. Short termism is what landed us with Capello and Erickson and short termism is the reason why Venables did not stay in he job longer than he should of!

I'm sorry to say this, but that's a highly foolish comment you've made. Denmark were nowhere near the best team in Europe when they won the Euros and neither were Greece when they won it. Your comment is not only foolish, but shows an absurdly negative outlook. In Greece can win it, when some Greek journalists predicted 3 defeats in the group stage and finishing bottom of their group, then why not England? Especially an England with an inspired coach like Hiddink whose shown several times that he's pretty good at tornaments.

Alan Pardew has ruled himself out of the England job. Hiddink and Benitez have ruled themselves in.
