RE: Movie News & Reviews
the reason for the new cast of robots in transformers 4 is hasbro not happy with the toy sales from dark of the moon and feel that the sales have now reached a peak since all the characters have been pretty much in all 3 films.

nothing new with that as in the 1st transformers film (the 1986 cartoon film) a lot of characters were killed so hasbro could bring in a new range of transformer toys

Not sure i agree that having the same robots in all three films spoiled them, i think the problem was they never added enough new characters in the films and secondly the story line although each of the films had get action and great set pieces the storyline was a bit lacking after the first one which many people have complained about. If they wanna make the fourth one good then they need some fresh ideas and a strong storyline. if your gonna make sequels you have to keep the films fresh, offer something different but without losing the heart of what makes each film link together.

I agree. The robots are fine and I can't imagine they would make the new film without Optimus and Bumblebee having a role. If anything the one thing they needed to change were the annoying human characters. Started to grate a bit after the first movie. As you state sequels need to be fresh yet stay faithfull to the original concepts. The Dark Knight trilogy is a great example of this.

RE: Movie News & Reviews
what hasbro are meaning is that the characters didnt spoil the films. what they mean is that people bought the toy of a character from the first film and didnt bother buying the same character's toy in the 2nd and 3rd films, so cause the toy sales were poor theyre bringing in a new cast of robots for the next one.

looks like a largely new cast of humans in the film too, shia labeouf has already said he wont be back and ive heard most of the other human cast wont be back. the new male lead is apparently jason statham who's girlfriend rosie huntington whiteley was the new female lead in dark of the moon

RE: Movie News & Reviews
Am not sure i buy into that as i think the reason due to plot's after the first film, Michael Bay even said him that he was happy with script of the second film thats well known. The toy excuse i didn't totally agree with and i'll explain why when Transformers animated movie came out hasbro then killed off most the original transformers to make way for the a new line of toys including OptimusPrime which pissed off a lot of die hard fans no one bought the new toys and seasons 3 to 4 of transformers bombed with season 4 only having 3 eps before it cancelled. The original version of the animated movie ends with Rodimus Prime on cybertron and it ends, but they took a leaf of the G.I Joe movie where Duke gets killed again it pissed fans off so they added a scene where instead of Duke dying they added a scene where you hear someone say that Duke just woken up from coma, so they did the same with Optimus Prime by adding the lines at the end "The greatest Autobot Optimus Prime will return" as a way of brining him back. He appeared in ep as zombie and was then bought back in the three parter in season 3 "The Return of Optimus Prime" but it was too late the ratings dropped, the series messed up because the got rid of too many of the old transformers for new ones that the kids didn't know but the show carried on in japan and they a load more seasons but it didn't totally follow the U.S one i have the seasons on dvd but its in japanese with subtitles. Most people don't realise that at the time the animated movie actually flopped in the cinema its only after so many years its gained a cult status.
Part reason why Transformers movies dropped off is because a few people don't like Michael Bay as think all he does is blow stuff in all his films and the die hard fans think he doesn't know anything about the transformers history and never forgiven him for it, also some people don't like some of the actors that were cast in movie and they haven't forgiven Michael Bay for changing the transformers so different from the G1 counter parts. Personally i thought the first one had the best story and third one had the best action scenes and effects. There even people that prefer the animated movie over the live action films lol.

RE: Movie News & Reviews
A load of people love War Of Cybertron and Fall Of Cybertron on the PS3 and 360 because it looks and feels more like the G1 Transformers even funny enough prefer them over the films lol.

I've got fall of cybertron and love it a lot, it does feel like an interactive animated transformers film. You can play as G1 Optimus prime as that's available on the dlc for the game

As for how I'd rank the transformers films. this is how I would

Transformers the movie (1986)
Transformers
Transformers Dark Of The Moon
Transforners revenge of the fallen

RE: Movie News & Reviews
i don't think the trilogy is up there with likes of Back To the Future Trilogy, Lord of The Rings Trilogy, The Star Wars trilogy(the original three) Batman (Chris Nolan) Trilogy or The Bourne trilogy (not including new one as its not Jason Bourne) but the films were decent to own and watch. Personally i think they should leave it for a while and get someone else to take it in new direction. The was a half finished script for a sequel to the animated movie but because it flopped they never bothered with it and instead they carried on with the third season which started a five parter called The Five Faces Of Darkness which followed on from Transformers The Movie.

RE: Movie News & Reviews
There rumours going around that title names to the sequel to Independence Day will be called, ID Forever Part One and ID Forever Part Two.The term "ID Forever" is speculated to be some kind of in-movie slogan representing the human resistance no official word on that yet guess we'll find out in time and here's some banners from the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall out on the 26th of October
