The Urban Dictionary is entirely unreliable. It's definition of wogdog changes when you put a space in the middle as MONEY BANG did, so it's clearly not to be taken seriously. On a different note, why doesn't someone ask the user in question what his username means and whether he feels it has any racist connotations?

Webster's Online Dictionary confirms the racially offensive nature of the term 'wog'. I thought before even looking in a dictionary that this term is insulting - I don't think I need to spell out which other racist word it is suggested to be derived from.

As groundnpound pointed out, it is suggested in The Truth's post that he has had a hurtful discussion with at least one other member. I'd suggest to the mods to have a private discussion with The Truth via pm. Find out exactly if and what has been said and then take the necessary action. That just seems fairer than the rest of us speculating in public view.

Another point is that even if wogdog was a racist term, which I think is doubtful, it would still not be racist if someone used it for their own username would it? Just recently the Metropolitan Police ruled that Tottenham Hotspur supporters were entitled to refer to themselves as yids. Even though yid is a racist word, the police said there was no harm in using it to refer to yourself and no wrong is committed. By that argument, if someone calls himself wogdog it cannot be held to be offensive can it? Surely if someone comes on here and calls himself yid (with police backing) his username should be accepted by others. So even if wogdog could be shown and proven to be a racist term it follows you could still use it for your own username without offending anyone else. Your colour should make no difference, because some of the Tottenham Hotspur supporters who call themselves yids are apparently not Jews.

Seems to be a mountain made out of a molehill. And people quick to jump on this guy for being racist for having a silly username without even knowing if that's his intent.

I don't know anything about Facebook but I've seen enough crap on twitter to conclude that anyone who cites the way twitter is 'moderated' as an example of what is acceptable in a modern society needs their head examined.

Well let's put the question out there. If someone registered as a member here with the username yiddo would others here take the police view that no wrong is being committed or would they regard it as offensive?
