RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion
Not sure if it needs remaking to be honest.
I see His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman has been filmed by the BBC and "coming soon" whenever that will be. I am also eagerly awaiting the BBC version of War of the Worlds, trailed as early as last December but not seen since. Heaven knows when that will be shown, possibly for the Autumn schedule.?

RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion
Earlier this year a thrilling new series called Race Across the World started. It took 6 teams of two people, married couples, a father & son, friends etc and having given them just a GPS locator and budget of nearly £2,000(the air fare to Singapore) they had to race across the world, completing some tasks and using ANY mode of travel except aeroplanes to get to their final destination, Singapore where the winning couple would win £20,000. A second series was immediately commissioned and I now learn that a third one is in the pipeline. As yet the next series hasn't revealed anything nor the destination that the people will have to reach. Watch this space!

Philip Pullman's epic trilogy His Dark Materials aired its second trailer tonight and it appears to be pencilled in for an Autumn release. It looks very good, with some great effects and a top notch cast including James McAvoy and Ruth Wilson. Should be a thumping good adventure.

Interesting that Louis Theroux is making(or made) a one-off programme about Selling Sex on the Internet, talking to those people who use the Internet to sell their sexual favours and wares online. I wonder if any of the girls from the forum will be featured like Levi who cropped up in a Channel 4 series last year. It will be interesting to see if any have taken part and how this industry has grown over the years. Transmission date yet to be announced.

RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion
The final series of Poldark goes out in two parts over two nights on BBC1 starting on Sunday and concluding Monday- this will be the last ever series although they could do it set in the future when Ross and Demelza are older.
The long-awaited new series of Peaky Blinders starts 9pm Sunday BBC1 and again on Monday.
Three lost scripts of Dad's Army were found recently and a cast assembled including Kevin McNally(Pirates of the Caribbean), Robert Bathurst(Cold Feet) and Kevin Eldon(Dangermouse) to recreate the long-lost episodes. They are transmitted by GOLD on Sunday - Tuesday at 8pm. Each episode was filmed before a live studio audience at Pinewood Studios earlier this year. In an extraordinary piece of luck or perhaps it was an omen, one of the team had to dash to the film & tv costumiers in London to find a period suit for Captain Mainwaring(Kevin McNally) to wear in his civilian guise. He grabbed what he thought was a suit of the time but when they looked on the back of the jacket at the label they saw in faint black capitals a name-it was ARTHUR LOWE-the original actor to play Mainwaring. Quite spooky. Incidentally Arthur Lowe's grandson has given his approval of the mini series and said they actors did his grandfather proud.

Have the BBC found another Bodyguard? I think so because last night, having been plugged for some time, the new thriller The Capture. A soldier who is cleared of killing a Taliban fighter indiscriminately now founds himself arrested for a crime it appears he didn't commit-an attack on the barrister that defended him. Was it him? Was what was seen on CCTV really what happened? We don't know yet, but it is gripping and may well have more twists and turns like the Bodyguard.
