Or pizza Hut with no toppings fuck the substantial meal rules, let the bloody pubs serve us as normal when the pubs reopen!! I would think it will nor be until end of April before pubs open but gtrouble is how long will it be before we have to lockd down again? I get thde feeling you won't be allowed in pubs unless you have been vaccinated.

I think that we could be down to probably half the number of pubs across the country that we had before original lockdown which is a sobering thouight, and find a pub will be a job in itself.

lot of pubs where i lived had already closed before all this seems to be popup ones taking over old shops is now a thing

A think the social-distancing has kinda knackered the micro-pub industry, at least for the time being. I spoke to a bloke who ran one near me before all this kicked off & it's a much more sustainable business than a regular pub.

yeah guessing the main problem with pubs nowadays are the bloody brewery chain pubs wanting Extortonate money for tenancys

There was a pub licensee rep on 5 live yesterday who said we could be down to 5000 pubs left and much damage was done by the substantial meal thing not to mention the amount of alcohol that was has been wasted and I wonder how many more will have closed due to nor having bewen open over Christmas.
I would also agree that it is more than likely tenancies probably aren't helping either but I would think the brewery chains need to work and support pub owners where possible but I do think the pub industry is probably in a far worse state than the high street. and if we can eat in pubs but not have alcohol with our meal then that is going be a killer.

Maybe, to a degree, it can't be helped, but the going in & out of lockdown with little notice, in an effort to get the economy going, has actually done more damage to pubs, especially as many also serve food. Perishables that have been ordered going to waste, & breweries also can't just turn on & off production, some forward planning goes into this with beer already made & or delivered only to be poured away, as in the latest lockdown with publicans not even allowed to sell alcohol as a take-away, yet it can be bought in a Supermarket. Pubs need the income from their core business, most large supermarket would be able to take the hit if alcohol sales were banned.

maybe go back to the old days where only off licences could sell alcohol but can you see the middle class wine drinker revolting if they couldnt buy there wine to dumb the pain of there existence

that's a hell of lot of beer lost!! i reckon by the time pubs reopen that could be close to nearly 100m pints lost.
