Did he try a bigger dish and if so with what results?

He finds that reception of the UK Sky channels is quite OK with his current dish which is 2.4m.

Why are this channels like babestation and studio 66 not on the Hotbird satellite? There must be a reason please tell us.

I don't think you can get Hotbird with a standard Sky installation, which is what most people in the UK with satellite TV have got.

RE: Astra 28 satellite dish - ShandyHand - 23-01-2018 14:18

Yep. You'd require an offset lnb, minimum, or a motorised dish to get hotbird alongside Sky in the UK; as your trying to get a signal from a different position in the sky to Astra.

Hotbird is aimed at, primarily, the mainland European market. I guess the channels figure they wouldn't get enough extra custom from Europe to justify the outlay involved in broadcasting from Hotbird or any other satellite? Particularly with the local competition not as regulated on content.

As the channels are streamed online would the person not be better off buying a smart TV, instead of trying to use a bigger dish.

RE: Astra 28 satellite dish - samtron - 16-02-2018 14:52

No because here in Libya the online is expensive. If I watch studio 66 one hour need one giga. My country every thing is expensive but satellite not need money.

I can well believe that the internet is expensive in Libya, as many African countries don't have very much bandwidth available, meaning that the consumer has no choice but to pay up for the amount of bandwidth used. No unlimited use internet as is common in may parts of the world!

I always tell you people that I want to watching uk babe channels tv but I don't know if 3m dish can work. If I get a big dish 3m can me receive it? In Libya I didn't find dish bigger than 3m.
