RE: Mixtapes 80's & 90's YOUR Lists. - GMach1 - 11-04-2019 20:21 I only know Jeff Wayne's tune - not a major headbanger rocker type although I did like Queen'a earlier rock stuff. Here's something else a little different for all your classical music fiends. Recorded 3rd February, 1986(cassette) Side 1 Overture to the Marriage of Figaro-Mozart Fur Elise-Ludwig van Beethoven Eine Kleine Nachtmusik-1st movement-Mozart Piano Concerto No.1 1st movement B.Flat-Tchaikovsky New World Symphony 2nd movement-Dvorak Pomp and Circumstance(Land of Hope and Glory)-Elgar 18th variation from a Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini-Rachmaninov Anvil Chorus(Il Travatore)-Rossini Hall of the Mountain King from Peer Gynt Suite-Grieg Overture to Lohengrin-Wagner Hungarian Rhapsody No.2-Liszt William Tell (or The Lone Ranger theme)-Rossini Side 2 Radetsky March-Johann Strauss Morning-Peer Gynt Suite-Grieg Farandole(L'Arlesienne Suite No.2)-Bizet Air On a G-String-Johann Sebastian Bach Ride of the Valkyries-Wagner(also known as Kill the Wabbit!) The Sorcerer's Apprentice-Paul Dukas March of the Torreadors from Carmen-Bizet Pizzicato Polka-Tchaikovsky Original BATMAN theme-Danny Elfman 1989 English Folk Song Suite-Vaughan-Williams(2) Norwegian Dances Op.35-Grieg Different yes but some great stuff here to look up for yourself. I added the BATMAN theme from the original film because it was modern classical in its own right and Elfman gets the 'atmosphere' of the comic book character spot on. RE: Mixtapes 80's & 90's YOUR Lists. - Doddle - 11-04-2019 20:40 Some stone cold classics there, pulse racing stuff. RE: Mixtapes 80's & 90's YOUR Lists. - rpj316 - 12-04-2019 12:59 ^^ For me,Danny Elfman's theme for Batman is the best of all the films in the series. RE: Mixtapes 80's & 90's YOUR Lists. - GMach1 - 12-04-2019 16:24 I think classical music has changed and people's perceptions nowadays also favour people like Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer and James Newton-Howard and of course the great John Williams's film scores - in fact he is featured every year in the Classic FM Hall of Fame. No reason why you can't have a few classics on a pop mixtape-remember Hooked On Classics with Louis Clark-he got the idea to do a pop/classic combo album using a boom-tah sound because one day when rehearsing he heard a jackhammer going up and down and decided to use that as the 'beat' and set it to some of the best loved and well known classical tunes-instant hit. Well, I am going to take the esteemed OP at his word (since he isn't here) about the era not mattering. But then I'm going to stretch it because looking at the tracks this must have been compiled in the 2000s. And just to add insult to injury, it's a CD-R not a cassette. I know, shoot me now....
