He was a top comedy writer and quiz host.

Very sad but he had good innings and always funny. Back in the day he was a occasional guest on Call My Bluff when the team captains were his writing partner Frank Muir and Patrick Campbell and was always funny.
With Frank Muir he wrote the classic comedy sketch Balham, Gateway to the South pls a huge amount for Jimmy Edwards
We were after it was published that he died discussing hi and one of the guys said he was always funny but his appearances on Call My Bluff was a marker for the shows like Have I got News For You and Mock the Week
