New Year's Honours 2024

It just seems too easy now for anyone in the public eye to get one.
I remember when the Beatles got theirs, fair enough, hitherto the charts were all American. Or maybe Alec Guinness being knighted in '59 but now you've just got to be on TV or run some races....win Strictly and it must be a K.
And us ordinary folks? It'll take a school crossing lady 50 years in all weathers to get her MBE.

it's as admirable job they do anyway and def worthy of a honour for me..
far more worthy than sadiq Khan

Have you also complained about Andrea Jenkyns, Therese Coffey, Toby Young, Charlotte Owen etc etc or are you just indulging in mob rage against a brown man?

Ask any Londoner how they feel about the job Khan's done as mayor ask any small business how ULEZ affects their businrss.

I have and it’s not as simple as the mob are saying. Do you believe in democracy? He was re-elected this year when the Tories put up an awful candidate in Susan Hall who he beat by over 270,000 votes. I’m not a traditional Labour voter but I can see that he has a mandate for his actions. If he gets up the nose of Lee Anderson and the Reform crazies then he clearly is doing something right. I notice you failed to answer my question about the numpties the Tories have given awards to.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm entitled to my opinion and his award is in myopinion, for his failure to address the crime problem and i'm sure those families of those who have been killed will also make their voices heard about it. My opinion is my own opinion and trust me I'm not a supporter of Lee Anderson.

All I will say if he starts to get a grip with the knife crime issue in the New Year, then probably yes this time next year, he should get knighted but atm, I don't think it's an award that is just and fair and acceptable when you see how he hasn't got to grips with that problem throuhout 2024.

As for those Tories i felt the same way as i do about this when they did it, and that's all I'm saying on that particular part of your answer.

They're exactly the sort of people who should be recognised.

Politicians and overpaid celebs seem to attract cult followings while decent, hard working people get sneered at. A perfect example of what's wrong with this country.
