Some good news. In the coming season the Premier League will not use VAR to determine whether goalkeepers have moved off their line during penalties.

RE: 2019 Women’s World Cup
The 2 surprise qualifiers for the last 16 are Nigeria and Cameroon, who overcame the much more highly ranked South Korea and New Zealand respectively. A good tournament for Africa therefore, with the only African team failing to qualify being South Africa, although they were in a very tough group.

The only other real surprise was Italy finishing top of their group ahead of both Australia and Brazil, although all 3 managed to go through. I suppose Scotland only drawing with Argentina might be classed as contrary to the formbook and a win for Scotland would have put them through, squeezing out Nigeria.

Last 16 fixtures:

Germany v Nigeria
Norway v Australia
England v Cameroon
France v Brazil
Spain v United States
Sweden v Canada
Italy v China
Netherlands v Japan

Then I would say it is up to the FA, the PL, the EPL then to instruct referees to inform goalkeepers before kick is taken, that they must remain on the line until the kick is taken or reinforce the stationary position rule. And any movement will result in a instant retake.

If you think about that 2 offences and they will be sent off. In a penalty shootout you risk running out of keepers.

Wise words SecretAgent and it looks like FIFA are in agreement with you. The rule that goalkeepers must be cautioned for stepping off the line at a penalty has been suspended for penalty shootouts.

We all knew that Cameroon are going to be physical but an swinging elbow to the face in the first 5 mins, and all the defender got was a yellow card.

Where was VAR when it should have been a straight red. annoyed

Not a surprise that England won 3-0. The big surprise is that Cameroon finished with 11 players.

Good result from the girls, through to face Norway on thursday. The game really descended into farce at times today with the reaction of the Cameroon players to VAR decisions

England v Cameroon. What's bunch of psychos that lot were, Parris got an elbow in the face, another of our players was spat on(maybe by accident) and the Cameroonian players got into a strop which the useless referee couldn't control. It turned the whole of the match into a farce at times, but at least England kept their composure, should have has a penalty for a foul on Kirby and at least two red cards should have been shown to Cameroon. They were disgraceful. England however had some terrible passes which they will need to tighten up on when they play Norway next. A good result but marred by the incidents which were not handled well.
